Guest cabin ventilation

    The guest stateroom is fed by the forward AC unit, but it doesn't have a return duct so if guests have the doors closed it gets hot and stagnant. Has anyone made a modification to provide better airflow? Would like to see examples and ideas.

    I've thought of connecting the guest cabin to the salon AC return since it is right above the ceiling.

    I've only ever seen additional AC returns in individual rooms, as required by codes in commercial applications. Usually just the typical space under a door will be enough.

    Change the door to a louvered door .

    Interesting idea but above my carpentry skill level and I expect finding the very narrow doors would be unlikely.

    You can buy louvered panels in different sizes and wood types. Just need to cut a hole in the door,

    Run a 4" return duct pulling from under the bed/mattress area back to where the unit draws air in the forward stateroom.

    Getting back to the forward AC would need to run through several closets and the head dryer (soon to be reinstalled) cabinet. Since always have both AC on the salon air return would be easier to get to.

    You have to adjust the door in the air duct on the forward unit to move air to the other state room

    Where would it be, inside the forward stateroom air outlet itself? There isn't an adjustable damper anywhere in the run behind the dryer or shower. I haven't removed the closet ceiling(s) if it is behind one of them.

    There is good airflow out the guest cabin AC outlet when the cabin doors are open, but not very good circulation when they are closed. The only location I found where I could install and exit would be the cabin ceiling near the hull side wall, opening up into the open area between the forward salon window and the forward salon cabinets, the upper cabinets stop about 6" before the actual salon wall/windows.

    Put an inline blower on the vent hose coming to the stateroom.........

    But where can i tap into a circuit that turns it on and off with the AC system?

    I asked the tech who will be installing two new AC units; one for forward area the other mid ship state room. Answer was; like they do in the residential world and Boatpoor here posted, just trim an inch off the bottom of the door. Instead of over thinking the issue the fix is so simple and you can test it by leaving the door open a small amount.
