Hi to all the Forum members.
I have just joined the Forum as I am seeking pictures of the above vessel. My wife’s grandfather was killed on this vessel when it was sunk with all hands. I have obtained the Official Royal Navy Court of Enquiry minutes which was held for any vessel lost in service but have been unable to obtain any pictures of the Sappho, hence my appeal to this Forum.
    Thanks to all,
    Nick Moseley

Look up Bramford Local History group. Try bramfordhistorygroup.org.uk/able-seaman-charles-mitchell-royal-navy/. Nice picture. They say it was minesweeping in 1940 and struck a mine. All aboard perished as you say.

OK thanks for that - I will certainly give it a try.
