43 FB water tank is leaking, anyone know where to access the tank and it’s fittings? Fresh water is in the midship bilge and the tank drains out in 3-4 days. The water pump is not running telling us the system does have a leak but the tank does.

Fill the tank block out all the light in the bilge get a narrow beam flashlight and start searching all around the tank with your eyeballs and bright narrow beam light for water anywhere you can.

I would check the plumbing fittings going in and out of the tank trace the plumbing lines into the tank and check the fittings for leaks at the tank then go from there. Trace any running water/ wet spots back to the tank . Hopefully you can zero in on it.
Patch the hole with Marine text, west system, 5200 etc. if it’s real hard to get to .
the right way is to pull the entire tank out and repair it if that’s possible.

I learned the hard way that often vent hoses are undersized and if you fill too fast the tank will pressurize and possibly crack. This happens to the fiberglass tank on my Hatteras 53. Luckily the crack is fairly high and small as water drops to about 2/3 the leak goes away.

what material is the tank? If poly, epoxy will not work and I doubt 5200 will

since your tank empties all the way it sounds like the leak is on the bottom or close to which means the tank will likely have to come up.

Whaaat ?! Old Hatteras skimped on the water tank ?
Me Olde Ocean water tank is quite stout . Glassed in between the engine stringers. Forward of the Engine-Jawns.

Lucky me. I think it’s thicker than most parts of the boat….
At least my water tank will still be in one piece!

Yep, hard to believe isn’t it? The problem is with the vent hose…
