Not sure if this was discussed somewhere but and to their website and no mention of motor yachts, just the sportfish. Any news on this?

As of this moment they are not building or offering MY's. Whether they'll resume them at a later date is still unknown. They have all they can do currently with the Mako and Ranger Offshore and other boats.

It’s a shame that the builder which pretty much launched Jack Hargrave career with some of the most successful small MY is dropping out of that market. But while their latests offerings (since 2005 or so) have been excellent they never got a decent market share and left the market open to both European and Far East builders.

They may return. They showed some sketches once of what they had in mind for the future, some redesigned MY's, but right now they just have no time or reason to do anything and definitely no sense of urgency. I'm afraid it will go the way of Cabo. One other possibility I've heard mentioned is them selling the MY brand but I don't expect it. Too much confusion plus no buyers.

Everyone here used Hatteras as the staple MY for 60-100’, what’s going to be the new leader?

You may have to re-think the Staple for these last few years.
IMO, Hatterass has not done bunk for a long while and fell off the Staple, long ago.
I realize the corp has been under new owners a few times now. But never coming back with a real new product,,, or anything to brag about..

It could just be good PR if they gave Cabo back,, Before it crashes and burns with them.

New Leader? In what narrow niche? Not here....

Having run many new Hatteras, as well as other brands such as Princess, Sunseeker, Azimut, and more. I don't believe this at all. Hatteras are still very well built, best in their size range actually and great sea boats. Hatteras was the best quality MY from 60-105' then Westport would be the best in their size range. Speaking of production yachts.

As 60-100' is noted, it must also be mentioned that Westport built 65', 85' and 98' and those have all been dropped as well for several years.

I think Hatteras started loosing their way back in the late 90s when they reduced the size of their aft decks on most motoryachts. This may work up north to maximize the short season with more interior space but it just doesn’t down south where you spend so much time outside. A balcony just won’t cut it

and then you have the fact that most buyers want flashiness and don’t pay attention to build quality which translates into higher costs.

Sportfishes are different. There is really no outside competition to Hatteras, Viking and the Carolina customs... but even there it is clear Hatteras has lost the battle to Viking

We want to buy it back and would if the opportunity presented itself. The previous owners slammed the door pretty hard on us last time we tried. Pretty sad demise for what was once a great company.
