Yard Rates and Project Costs in 2021

    My current boat closes in a couple weeks and new owner will be picking up to head South. Of the two boats I am interested in as replacement one of them will need some cosmetics to get it the way I want it. We are all familiar with how boat prices have been on the rise as well as many other products and services. Have boat yard costs significantly jumped over the past year or two? I would like to do all the cosmetic maintenance now before I really dive into the other projects I have planned to update the boat.

    The other boat is turn key so trying to see all the angles so I make an informed decision.

    Exactly. And if you want a yard to do work in the spring, better put in requests now as most of the really good yards fill up slots for the bigger jobs pretty quick.

    My "take" on it goes to the root cause, more specifically the out of control government spending which has the printing presses running over-time, and every dollar printed cuts the value of those already in circulation. Commonly known as Inflation, the result of which is EVERYTHING will continue to cost more dollars and if that's not bad enough; the more free stuff, including dollars, the government gives away the less people are inclined to work, and less laborers means higher wages (supply & demand) and shortages of materials when manufacturing jobs go unfilled.
    It's gotten to the point now where I find myself looking more for availability then cost and where never looked forward to going in the yard, now I simply dread the thought.

    Prices are going up and with the recent boating boom it takes longer than before to get work done. Everybody seems to be having a harder time finding good workers although with crazy unemployment benefits drying out things should improve.

    and there are still serious issues getting parts and supplies which delay things even more.
