Be aware that if you peel the film after an extended period, it can leave an imprinted pattern of the graphic in the gelcoat.

They aren't very durable and look like a sticker. Just get it faux finished by Josh or Monique.
The yard will spray many coats of clear after it's done. Then the name goes on and more clear. This way name can be changed without re doing the faux. Minor scratches from billfish or dock rash can be fixed. Monique is local to sfl but they all travel if needed. They customize the color and grain to your desire.

I agree with all this, but there’s a huge cost difference. Which generally isn’t a problem. The problem is the time, a wrap can be done in a day. Faux teak takes 3 weeks generally. It’s 30-40 coats of base color, faux color, and clear.

I communicated with Fishy about a wrap for my Classic Hatteras MY. I want a finer grain wood look - more like mahogany. The word came back that they only have one type of grain as shown on their website, which is a bold teak look. My search continues.

There are some new people faux painting transom. They might give a price break over what the big 3 charge.

We build very large and fast RIBs and use Flexiteak for 30 odd years. Good stuff.

Am I correct in thinking Flexiteak is decking, and not suitable for a transom? How does it compare to Estech?

Flexiteek is indeed decking and not at all suitable for a transom. I've always thought that it could look good in bordered panels glued to the sides of a station wagon. I'm not familiar with Estech.

I have a faux wrap on my transom, the trick for longevity is spray a few coats of clearcoat over the vinyl, I used matt but it would have looked better with semi or gloss. Price wise it can not be beat, there are many 7 figure boats out there with vinyl on the transom
