Once that Liquid Plumber is used, It becomes a hazardous mixture to work with. Please do not use it.

I would be also looking for Y valves and bulkhead or service cocks.

You beat me to it lol. Personally I would never use Liquid Plumber on a boat and I would never recommend using it.

It's entirely possible that it empties directly overboard and the hull discharge is clogged with a mud dobber, or god forbid the yard left tape on it when they painted the bottom.

Weird...gray water sharing black water would mean that every drain must have a wet trap. Sitting could cause a clog. Air. Snake. Both good options. If you can trace the hose you have the potential to use compressed air in either direction. The addition of traps to the equation may be the culprit.

Previous owner of mine had the yard fare and repaint the boot to dress her up to show. They fared over the heat exchanger discharge for the raw water heat exchanger that cooled the stabilizer hydraulics. Not an easy discovery....but now cured...

Yes, never chemicals. Compressed air is much more useful and safe.

In the G Lakes, even grey water if frowned on.:(
But a world travel boat, a Y valve and/or cock could be in the wrong setting.

Even I am guilty of using Liquid Plumber in our shower drains & sumps. Not to clear a clog, but to avoid one.
AND, it has to be the real gel product. Discount or store brands do not work.

When there is a clog on our boat (or our customers), unless it is an oblivious clog, hoses come apart and electrical fish tape comes into play to find the clog, sometimes can clear it.

When you start pulling hoses with an acid already in it, you are asking for health issues, skin burns and eye damage can happen with out knowing it.

    Thanks for your suggestions.

An update: Capt. reports A LOT of the hot water treatment has cleared the aft head, including sink and shower, plus the galley sink. The forward head still blocked.

This has me scratching my head as I am not on the boat and I had previously imagined all of the plumbing going aft, linking together, and there being one clog affecting all heads. But apparently it is multiple clogs? Definitely feels like the waste system was not maintained. Still -- having one head is a considerable relief.

Thank you all again for your advice.

A good preventive measure is to use a lot of water when flushing. The more water you use, the less calcium deposits you get inside the hoses. Talking fresh water if course... no idea why any one would still be using salt water except on very small boats.

my personal 53 had new vacuflush installed back in the late 90s. One of the benefits often touted about VF is the low fresh water usage. Great, right? Wrong. After 15 years some of hoses had significant build up.

on the other hand I recently replaced a check valve on a headhunter head which uses quite a bit of water as they rely on water pressure and was amazed to see how clean the inside of the pipes and the check valve. No deposit whatsoever

Since that, I flush my new Raritan heads for much longer than before

    Nah, relax:
He did not give you tone, or attitude, he was simply asking a direct question.
This place is not for the faint of heart, but there is tremendous information available right here, right now.
    Enjoy and learn.

common on steel boats that have been sitting. Generally they use welded steel pipe for drains instead of hose. The pipe grows rust burrs on the inside of it (much like cast iron on older houses), then every **** thing catches on the burrs…….hair, soap, drain babies, etc.

Well here she is, I hope the owner dose not mind me posting pictures of Rainbow Maker but she sure is a nice boat.
They arrived Welland Canal this morning and needed crew as I was busy today tried to find help for him but none of my guys were available owner found a local friend who worked the lake freighters to help them through canal. It has nice wood stove to. Had a nice chat with the crew. I saw this boat years ago going through the Welland Canal I am sure it was a local boat at one time.

Designed by Dutch Naval Architect John Jansen in 1998 to a classic Dutch style for a coastal boat and built in 1999/2000 by Quebec yard Chantier Naval Forillon for a Gerald Verlaan specifically to do the Great Loop. The yard is known mainly for stout fishing boats, is still in operation and currently has 6 SAR craft in build for the Canadian Coast Guard. Very pretty little boat in the old style.

    Wow.
In hindsight, this previous comment of mine was the understatement of the year! :)
Congratulations, a stunning small ship indeed.
She looks fantastic in spite of the black hull, that IMHO doesn't do her justice.
