So, I purchased a 1980 Post 42 last fall. Ran great from Amesbury to Boston last week. Now I am just doing maintenance items and small projects. Very happy with the boat. We are going to have a new enclosure made (Didn't come with one). What are your thoughts on removing the small wind screen? Keep it or not....
I have one on my 46 and like it. It was broken during hurricane Michael and I replaced it. Not just for the looks but it does turn some water when you're running in a heavy head sea. These aren't dry boats.
If you do remove it, don't chuck it. Someone might need one. I don't know if this is typical but I had a hard time finding single pieces of smoked lexan in that length & thickness. ( I forget the length now ) I think I bought either a 10 or 12 foot X 5 ft sheet so as to not have two pieces. Obviously, I kept mine too.
No screen on my 76. Makes a huge difference in the overall look, IMO. Most casual observers guess she’s 90s vintage at the oldest. The bridge windscreen is one of the only lines of the Post I never liked and I love not having it on mine.
I agree, remove it. It brings the eisenglass straight down without the bump-out forward, where it goes around screen. A more sheer modern look.
