I am trying to figure out where to place my 11 foot inflatable on my carver 3607.

I manhandled the dinghy onto the foredeck but that is not going to happen every day.

The swim platform is not gonna happen because lines conflict.

Davits on the swim platform make line handling almost impossible

So I am left with the hard top and some sort of crane. has anyone else done this yet?

Do a google for Dinghy Caddy.
Install one of those, it won't interfere with lines, when dink is in the water it drops down under the platform so everything is clear.
Much simpler and easier to use than a crane on an aftdeck roof.

I am not sure but I think that since I am backing into the slip that my crossed stern lines might conflict with the dinghy while in port?

do you have pictures of this while docked? When my lines go slack at high tide I would think the dinghy caddy would end up conflicting with dock lines.

maybe I am just not seeing it right.

I have also see the clips on the swim platform that you just float up to and clip the gunwale tube of the dinghy. That was my first thought but again lines keep me feeling like there is gonna be a problem.

If the dink is on the lift while in dock the lines will be above it.
Do a google search of images you'll find a boat similar to yours.

My google foo is bad. I have not found any images of crossed lines with the dinghy on an aft cabin carver or the likes.

Does anyone have experience with dinghy caddy and carver 3607 or the likes. I like the system (even though it is grossly over pipes lol.)

But I think in practice I will tear the thing off my boat the first wind that buffettes my boat in my slip.

Since you're at a floating dock, and not dealing with tide, why not just install flush-mount cleats on your swim platform. You don't need all that scope. You could also run a fore & aft spring off the existing stbd. cleat and that should keep you off your neighbor. To hold off the dock you could run a spring from the port cleat to your neighbor's cleat (or install another one). I'd check with Carver before trying to put the dink on that roof. I seem to recall a sticker warning against putting weight there.

Are you sure the hard top can hold a dinghy and davit crane? That seems to me to be a lot of weight pretty high on a not very heavy boat.

Actually that is why I ask for others thoughts.

The dinghy motor combo is 200 pounds

If I have any real concerns I can Crane the motor to aft Deck and 100 pound boat up top.

Crane needs to be around 36 inch high off hard top and. 36 inch boom. If I mount near radar arch I think the connection points are most substantial there.

But of course as I set the boat up there It will need to hold me and the dinghy at launch and stow stages

    That is near 400 pounds

Or 300 if I keep motor on aft deck level

    Good ideas.

Don't know if I would put a cleat on swim platform itself that seems like a really weak point??? But I do like the idea of dinghy caddy or weaver arc setup. Did you really mean cleats on swimplatform or just on the hull at swim platform level???

As for stickers saying no weight on aft hard top that is good info

My stickers disappeared many decades before I saw the boat lol.

I will call carver to clarify ... thank you

    Per Carver's website:
Q: How much weight will my hardtop carry?

A: None. The hardtop was not designed to carry any type of load on any Carver model.

( I have a 1990 3607 with aft hardtop. The tag on it says no load but I have sat on it many times when working on stuff on my radar arch, Iwould not have any problem putting a dingy on it. )

This post??? It says go for it essentially?

It is not my first choice

I prefer swim platform mount if I can solve the line conflict

Yes, but of course it depends how secure and substantial your swim platform is.

I just thought of this. I have a 72 pound dead rv roof air conditioner up there.

So I have tested it 10 hours in 6 foot seas with a load 30 pound less than just the dinghy lol.

I tested the superstructure with a 24 hour atlantic transit down the coast from NY to norfolk va. Cool maiden voyage for me with a 36 year old boat. BTW they need more gas docks between Chincoteague and norfolk. That was scary with a thirsty girl like her.

    Lol

My swim platform is much less substantial than that lol.

Of course I see low cleats on the hull of the picture you posted . As long as I put a substantial backing plate on it I guess I could mount cleats to the transom right at swim platform height.

That should work. But again look into running fore/aft springs and/or trading cleats with your neighbor. That may be the easiest way to achieve your desired results. I've dealt with a lot of boaters who wanted to keep their sterns clear for boarding or dinks. Thinking outside the box or moving a dock cleat usually gets it done.
