I've an 1984 33' Carver Mariner. The Shower pump (not a sump pump)has failed. I can not access it. There is only on small floor hatch in the galley, no original plans. I fear the floor hatches were covered up with "Pergo " flooring. Does any one know where the pump is and how to access it and or the original hatch floor plan? Can't believe the only access is a 2x2 hatch in the galley, in Blue below.

That position (between the head and galley) looks right. Yes a 2'x2' hatch sounds right and yes since 1984 it's entirely possible someone put laminate over the floor covering hatches. Easiest way to figure it out is to poke your head down and look at the floor from the underside. (A mirror or camera will help as will a small helper) The good news is that laminate flooring is floating and generally not glued down. So you can start on one side and uninstall it. Keep in mind this is your boat. So if you need a larger hatch, cut a larger hatch. Not sure what you mean by "shower pump (not a sump pump)" unless I'm misreading this and you have no water pressure and not that it's not discharging the gray water. Most boats your size will have a plastic box (sump) with a clear plastic lid although back in '84 it could be all plastic and hoses to it from the shower and sinks and a discharge hose from the pump. Inside you'll probably find a Rule bilge pump with float switch. Often that float switch will get hung up making it run till the pump burns out or down keeping it from operating.
Now if it's a water pressure issue (only at the shower) that could involve major surgery, opening a wall behind the shower. Often the fittings corrode clogging the hose.

Are you sure that the pump or sump or whatever is not in the forward part of the engine bay?

I believe the engine room on that boat is under the aft deck and there's a bulkhead just in front of it (cabin down). Through the cabin you'll just have access hatches for plumbing under the sole.

Btw, the cabin sole should be marine grade plywood screwed to a frame. The whole thing should come out with little more than a screwdriver once you remove the covering unless they glued it.

Thanks for the replies!!! the fools glued down the flooring. I did look as far as I could see for signs of other hatches cant find any evidence where other floor hatches are. This boat does not have a shower sump pump it has a shower drain pump. There is a switch on the side of sink cabinet Next to the shower stall. Not a float switch or sump like the bilge pumps or my 74’ Unifite. Shower. I’m stumped there is no sump, or access to the shower drain pump. Any other ideas? Any one know where the original hatches are?

Some builders always tried to save a buck here and there. A manual pump is cheaper and less plumbing. Could access be inside cabinetry or vanity in the head compartment? Open the lower cabinets and look for screws.

Glue is not bad. They took an extra step to make sure the boards don't loosen up or squeak. Get out the jig saw and cut a hatch the size you need. Not surprised if that's the only hatch as the plumbing and maybe a bilge pump are probably the only things to access under there. Any chance you can take a pic o what you have under there? It sounds like you're saying there's a pump connected directly to the shower drain that you turn on with a switch for when you use the shower. In that case you have 2 possible sources for your issue. Have you checked that the switch is working and has power?

Yes the pump turns on, makes noise but removes water at a trickle I suspect something is fouled, but if I can’t access it I can fix or replace it. You can see from the floor plan the shower pump is not under a cabinet. The shower drain is on the at the foot of wall between the toilet and shower stall.

Can you pinpoint the pump location form The noise? It may not be right under the drain. How about under the floor of the locker on the other side of wall

It sounds like it’s adjacent to the shower drain hole . Unable to access it as I can
Only locate the one tiny hatch in the galley , Bilge isn’t deep enough to crawl in .

I think Pascal is correct that you'll find access to it under the floor of that locker or (I'm unable to read what it is) the space behind the toilet.

If there is a cabinet or locker nearby, maybe drill a small hole in the floor and push an endoscope in there to look around.
Correction, it'd need to be a bigger hole to adjust and manipulate the scope but better to have a small patchable hole than start cutting hatches !!

I have one of these for $ 50.00 it is worth it.
Use it a lot on the boat and at work.
Takes some getting used to but it has helped me out many times.
    Water proof camera too.

chesapeake46 thanks for this tip. I've been wanting to get a scope camera for a while but didn't want to fork out the $$. This one is affordable and pretested by you for me! Lol, and others here on Y.F.
    Time to get me one.

Pearl 33, did you find access to the shower pump? I have the same issue?
