No feedback on the Canon but just used my Fujinon 12 X 28s today while fairly rough offshore. Would like for them to be a little stronger in magnification but they definitely work. With regular binoculars I wouldn’t have been able to see anything with all the motion. I paid approximately $600 for the Fujinons from West Marine.

I have the Fujinons and they paid for themselves the first time I used them on my first trip to Bimini. I didn’t grow up boating so I don’t have years of practice with binocs. Expensive - but once I used them the cost was ‘almost forgotten’ footnote

Fuji's are great, reasonable price as compared to some others .

Fuji's are good, had them for years. Step up to Fraser's and it's a whole new game. 10 x better than Fujis. Cost more, but have come down some in price to $2600-2900.

I can understand that but at 4-5 times the cost I would expect a better product.

Wifey uses a Fuji compact... and likes it.

Adjusting eye distance isn't as easy as with some other binoc, so I can't use hers. That's not particularly an issue, since she's the designated long-range spotter... and I use my own unstabilized 7x50 for nearer stuff.

If you were to purchase one pair of binoculars (image stabilized) would you go with 10 x 42 or 14 x 40 ?

My understanding is that higher magnification was a narrower field of view and vice versa. Is there a sweet spot.

    Thanks !

My co-captain did a lot of research on these binoculars and decided on the Fujinon 14 X 40 Techno-stabil image stabilized. We have been extremely satisfied with these binoculars.

Generally that's the way the optical math works, but... it also depends on the size of the ocular and objective lenses. But you can read the FOV specs for the individual products...

I couldn't answer the question for anyone else.

In our case, it came down to weight, being as how our DLRS :) is the one dealing with the things... and seeing as how she thought the 14x40 versions were just too heavy for her use. Hence her preference for the compact 12x28s. (At the time, most Cannon products would only stabilize to +/- 1° and I think maybe only one or two would stabilize to +/- 3°... so we didn't really concentrate on those.)

OTOH, if they were for ME, I'd have been more concerned with eye relief (back before cataract surgery) because I'd have had to deal with eyeglasses at the same time. And if it were me, if I were going with a stabilized binoc, once eye relief had been taken into account... I'd likely have decided to go with the higher magnification... because it would be a stabilized higher magnification.

    +1.
I got them more years ago than I can remember, and I've yet to try anything that works better.
The Pelican hard case they come with (or used to, at least) is equally impressive, btw.

Have tried most, the canon and fuji are ok, but if you really want a great pair go with Fraser Optics 14x40mm M-25E Gyro-Stabilized Water Proof Porro Prism Binocula. About $2400 at Adorama. Night and day over the other ones.
