    I fully agree with Arniev!

It might be an idea to get some messages to sensation from this community.
Anyone has the name and email address of someone high-up there?:D

it could be the same guy voting more than once...
The styling cues are way too similar to be just a coincidence.
It would be different if Lars had designed it...more of an evolution of design into something else, but that's not the case.

    Definitely a copy!!!

Problem is does Lars have a sense of humour.... or a really wicked one!!!

Can you immagine placing an 'advert' of Bling on the opposite page to any writeup of the Australian...COPY?!!!

AND it'll be cheaper than court...

AND more beneficial in the long run, I have no doubt...

So if I was Lars, I'd sit back and .... ENJOY!!

There doesn't seem to be any form of denial from anyone either. I would have thought that if there was a VALID argument, it would not have been held back, would it?

    Hmmm...

Yes, of course it's a copy. And sure, you're right; imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. However, like every knock-off design, it is substantially less interesting than the original. And in this case, being shorter and lower, it has none of the dramatic appeal of the original drawing.

If indeed your client were to see this I'm sure his thought would be that he sure was glad to have yours, and laugh off the poor copy as just that.

This whole affair reminds me of all the knock-offs of Bannenberg's winged funnels on Nabila. There was not one of them that favored the look of any other yacht.

There is very little true ingenuity in the design of yachts. I believe that that is why the masters - Bannenberg, Sturchio, Fexas (yes, I said Fexas), Hargrave, and now Modin - hold the attention of the afficianado (both owners and admirers alike).

    Cheers, Eric

    COPY!!!!!

Your previously published pictures show this down to the 'T', Windows, Superstructure Lines & Window Locations.

The theft of ideas and concepts is common place and costs the person ££$$$$ if swiped.

Whilst they think the design is theirs, everyone else says Otherwise 'COPY',
    apart from the blind ones.

    Hi Surfins,

Your thoughts are appreciated, but I have never said this is a copy of a product, but of a design. It is not a clone, more like if you are recording a known song with a new orchestration and claim it is your song.

ADMIN NOTE: "Surfins" post removed due to promotional rhetoric.

Interesting you bring up the music analogy Lars... that's precisely what it looks like. Not a "direct carbon-copy", but more like a remix, or perhaps sampling. When someone samples in music, they owe rights to the original composer.

Yes, both design and music are protected by Copyright laws, which is not the same as a Patent and normally lasts longer as well.

Art has the same rights and at least in Europe it lasts until 70 year after the death of the artist...

    These Discussions are academic.
The Australian/NZ proposal is a blatant copy and probably done in house to appeal to a potential customer (possibly Russian) to be built at a bargain price which he will later regret and there is little you can do about it.
It happens all the time in this industry.
You can not trust some yard owners ! ! !
Find a client who will build yours.......... problem solved.

It's a copy for sure! If your design was built and visiting yacht clubs and then copies started to be built, that would be flattering and good for your business, but if they can launch their copy before Bling you lose the credit you deserve.

    9 blind guys so far!

Time to support our friend Lars a bit here!
In this month's Boat Inernational USA on page 25 there's a 1/3rd page presentation of the "Sensation"al project.
Purely as a private initiative I will formally react to Sensation's announcement and also inform BI-USA of their mis-information.
The magazine is not to blame, they cannot check on everyone.

As I said, I will do this tonight and as a private act, this should not prevent other members to do the same!;)

I saw that also as soon as I got my issue. I agree, how is BI going to know? Very cool of you to make it known to them.

    A first reply!

Hereafter the reply of the chief editor of BI-USA in this "Bling" story:

I will try to post all attachments if of interest.

Thanks Luc, this will be interesting to follow.

And to "Qum!", yes I have a good sense of humor and having seen the model of "Mini-Bling" there can be little doubt from where the design emanates. (So said my lawyer as well...)
Note also that all windows are curved as on the original Bling...

    /Lars
