Canada Closed Until Feb 2022

How is supporting efforts to combat the pandemic "political"? I notice you didn't find anything "political" about posts promoting efforts to get around Canada's efforts to protect their citizens that have nothing to do with boating. (As in having cars trucked into the U.S. and then flying in by helicopter to get around quarantine or Canadians claiming they're being imprisoned in Radison hotels because of quarantine rules). Under this topic answering these posts is valid.
The "political" posts were by MBevins in posts #3 and 6. They began a discussion of the regulations and their impact on business. It's a relevant topic and just because we're boaters doesn't mean we stick our heads in the sand on other important topics, especially if they relate to the cruising world. Covid 19 in all its ramifications affects every aspect of our lives from boating to working to finances to living and dying, and it's all intertwined. It was political before November. Today it's just about living and dying and how to do more of the first and less of the second.

It usually takes a person decades of exposure to tobacco smoke to be part of the half a million deaths a year, and a person less than a day of exposure to the red flu to be a part of the nearly same amount of deaths a year.

This thread has been moved to the Waypoints forum where it's (hopefully) less visible . Instead of closing the thread, can I ask everyone to just move on, please? This stuff is such a turn-off for readers. The frequent posters might consider asking themselves if their every thought needs to be digitally transcribed?

Check back. I never brought up politics, but every time Covid was brought up before the election the dog whistles started, and I would not permit that to go unanswered here or anyplace else. That was my duty. The elections are now over. I don't care what any nation or municipality does, red or blue. I only care that they try and I'll use my voice to support that. But again, in this and the other thread I posted the report relating to cruising. I did not bring up the economy and I saw nothing about politics in anybody's post. Just viewpoints and discussion of an important topic. It's here because it relates to maritime activity and also includes discussion of related tangents pertinent to every one of us worldwide. You don't have to subscribe to the thread if it bothers you.

Canada is open more than it was before. I did the Welland Canal in late June and the ONLY way we were allowed through is because the owner purchased the yacht 3 weeks prior and I had the Bill of Sale with me. Also the owner was not allowed on the boat while transiting through Canada either and he had to meet us in Oswego, NY. This at least allows vessels to transit through Canada and the maximum amount of people, won't bother most yachts.

That didn't even occur to me as I read the report. You're correct. It sounded like they were tightening restrictions, but they're actually relaxing them; just extended them to where they knew they'd end up anyway and they can always relax them more at any time circumstances dictate. Good news.

And that's one reason why threads like this are important even when they go on related tangents. They educate, and as long as the tangents are relative they eventually come back to boats.
