I had a friend last week sold his trailer in Florida so he had to go there to close deal so he flew Toronto to Detroit then to Florida which is expensive when we live so close to border we always fly out of Niagara Falls NY or Buffalo and are use to the
$ 69.00 flights. On his trip home he flew from Florida he flew to to Niagara Falls NY took a ten minute cab ride to Rainbow Bridge and walked across bridge to Canada and his wife picked him up.
I live very close to St Catharines airport and there is at least six trips a day taking Canadian's by helicopters to Buffalo airport three persons per trip with their cats and dogs for $ 1200.oo and their car is shipped by truck to Buffalo airport for $ 700.00
When they arrive at Buffalo twenty minutes latter their car is waiting for them.

This is the current situation in Canada for people returning, even with a negative PCR test in hand:

I'd like to move to FL please. Anyone know if Disney World is hiring? I'm living in a country run by a Goofy government and a Mickey Mouse prime minister... might as well get paid for it.

If he thinks the Radisson is anything like a prison cell maybe Canada ought to move the cry baby to one so he understands the difference. Or better still a Covid ward. Maybe too he'd learn to follow procedure like everyone else. I have serious doubt that he did since others are make the crossing without incident.

Did you read the article NYCAP? Look at the pics?

This is the procedure for travelers returning to Canada as of last weekend. Virtually nobody gets to fly into Canada "without incident"...

Definition of prison: A place or condition of confinement or restriction.

These "hotels" are mandatory $2000 stays, locked in a room in a building surrounded by fencing and security. You aren't allowed to leave your room. Sounds like a prison to me. Add the private contractor security posted in the halls (again, photos in the article I linked) and food that would make a high school cafeteria in less desirable neighborhoods look like Michelin Star dining.

Rules or not, my post was to point out the fact that the Canadian government is detaining people coming into the country.

Some people refuse to accept that we're in an unprecedented situation that has the potential to end the human race, and even 1 year into it we're still very much flying blind. More people are dying now that at any time since this pandemic began. Extraordinary measures are called for. The more some people try to get around the precautions the longer all of us will be dealing with it. I suspect that person would have a different view if he were allowed to travel like it's 1999 and he brought the disease home and killed those he loves. I've spoken with several medical professionals who said one thing that sticks with them is how many people are surprised to find that they're dying. They didn't think the danger was real. I can't imagine this as any sort of political ploy since it hardly helps anyone's political future to hurt their economies and inconvenience their constituents. Lots of hard decisions are being made every day.

Unless they moved NY yes we're up north. But I heard it more from people in Miami and out in the mid-west. In NY there's very few who don't understand the seriousness as we were dealing with it when the rest of the country considered it just a NY problem.

In BC we have had an update from our health minister on a new Covid-19 variant that is reported to be more dangerous and more contagious. Currently they expect the response to this variant to extend as far out as April. So, don't be surprised if the border stays closed a while longer than you were told.

An African and a Brazilian strain are showing up in the U.S. and they say current vaccines only lessen the severity. They don't keep you from getting it, and I'm also hearing that people who got it before are getting it again. So immunity doesn't seem like it's lasting. We'll get a better handle on it as vaccines get into arms but I fear we'll be dealing with this for a long time to come, including rolling in and out of local and national restrictions. I just heard from a friend in Germany and it's the same there, including the restrictions and the weariness. We often may feel alone but we're all together in a big leaky boat that needs a lot of patches.
