Dockside Water Filtration

    One of the places that our boat spends time in the summer is an older private marina with dockside water that is fed by a well. The water is extremely hard and has enough iron content that it actually discolored the white gel coat on a friends boat that spent the entire summer there... thankfully I never filled our tanks or had the boat washed while visiting. Being winter, the water system is winterized so we don't have the ability to test the water to understand exactly what we're dealing with. Does anyone have a suggestion of a good (somewhat portable) more industrial dockside water filtration system that clean the water up ? We have tried a watermark portable stainless system with pre-filter that I had to no avail.

    Appreciate any insight...

    On the docks in San Diego, there are many "de-ionizer" tanks for boat washing/rinsing. They're provided by commercial services like Culligan. Otherwise, there are systems like "Spot-Free" that you can self-service. Results are mixed on those, although many shiny sportfishers take them to Cabo with them aboard.
    I've always filled yacht tanks with a 5 micron filter. I've found 2 inches of sediment in the water heater of one yacht I ran.
    If taste is a concern, there are under the counter reverse osmosis systems that you may be able to fit on the yacht.
