Heading south out of Charleston Friday AM. Hoping to make brunswick for friday night. I have done Jekyll Island before and that was cool but I thought I would try downtown brunswick? Any thoughts on great restaurants?
Coastal Kitchen at Morningstar landing marina is outstanding. They have the absolute best Shrimp and Grits in the South. They also have a picayune pasta dish with shrimp and scallops that is outstanding as well as everything else on their menu. Nice atmosphere too. I don't know if you can eat there without staying in the resort but Sea Island resort has great restaurants also. Morningstar landing marina is the best one to stop at in Brunswick, can fuel from your slip, restaurant right there. St. Simonds island is a 10 minute uber away and has a beautiful lighthouse, beach, and a touristy area with lots of unique stores/shops. Thanks guys. I was surprised no comments on actual downtown Brunswick. I called Morningstar today and they have space and we’re exceptionally friendly. It’s supposed to be a cold day on the water, might have to see if they have a hot tub.
They have a pool right behind the restaurant. I think it's heated. Downtown Brunswick is a nice little touristy beachy town. I've eaten at restaurants there but nothing has wowed me. Down load Yelp app on your phone and see what each is rated at. Morning star has a good amount of current so be aware, it will either be directly on your bow or stern.
It's been a year or so since I've been there. Definitely has the feeling of a town on the edge of 'getting it back together'. Think of Fernandina, Cocoa Beach, Ft. Pierce, etc 20 years or so ago. Downtown has some old businesses hanging on, some new upstarts, handful of restaurants, some relics of industry. It's worth checking out.
