Have been updating the electronics on my Post 43. Just picked up the Garmin Reactor 40 autopilot and I am curious if anyone else has installed this and if so where they located the components. From what I have read in the literature I think I can put the pump and shadowdrive both on the bridge but where have others located the CCU? That little piece of this puzzle is really baffling me. The boat appears to have had an autopilot earlier in its life but the only thing left to tell me about it is a breaker on the switchboard.

On my old Hatteras, We did a fair amout of trial and error on the CCU location. I thought I had it and then realized that the DC engineroom lights, when turned on, made things go wonky. I ended up locating it in a hanging locker in the stateroom. Shadow drive went at the helm, pump went at the rudder.

Thanks for the info. Checked under the sink in the head with a compass this morning before we pulled out and so far it looks good. Will need another set of hands to activate different systems to see if it stays a good choice! Was the pump in the lazarette a choice or a requirement? I would prefer to keep it up top where the conditions are better.

You want the pump near the rudders so it moves them quickly
