So it's a game to get around your nations efforts to stop the spread of Covid-19? Wonder how many Covid positive people these oh so smart people will encounter as the drive across our country and how many people they'll infect? Hope when they return (if they survive) their neighbors treat that like the traitors they are.

Ed, you are so closed (or is it simple) minded. My parents happen to be snowbirds, who spend their summers in Canada and winters in Florida. They spent the entire lockdown period at their home in Florida and then made the drive to Canada in July, stopping only for gas and then quarantining at home for the required two weeks.
My mother has health issues which are affected by cold weather, so they recently made the drive back to their FL home (same protocol) where they will spend the winter carefully isolating.
They aren't alone in this.

They've had 68 deaths since November 2nd. That's 8.5 deaths per day. What on earth would you need 10 refrigerated trucks for???

No laws being broken here. Canadians have been heading south for winters as a course of routine. This year with the virus it is still legal to fly in to your place and stay. Its all about risk mitigation, and how comfortable you feel. If you feel comfortable staying in your place having groceries delivered etc, good for you. We wont be going this year. To big a risk for the two of us. Friends currently in a couple of our southern neighbour states are betting on their area (condo building) staying covid free. Others have cases around them, and growing. Not not feeling as comfortable as they did before. Time will tell for those that went south if it was the right decision or not.

Based on how Ontario is ramping up, it's a crapshoot no matter where you are.
It really boils down to being smart about your decisions.

I agree 4 days running now new record cases. 1380 yesterday. Toronto hospitals operating as normal but very concerned about numbers increasing. were staying put this year. Small bubble we are in, and further up north.

We opted to go to our place in FL. Our community has weathered the storm remarkably well.

We stayed in FL until June 1 with zero issues. Again behave and follow all protocols.

It's this. Covid is rampant in many areas of U.S. and Canada. Yes, they have learned how to treat it better. BUT, it boils down to the decisions each person makes and the risk factor that they open themselves up to or the risk and exposure mitigation. People need to take personal responsibility. But wearing a mask, limiting how much exposure you do (grocery stores, restaurants, flights, etc.), washing your hands often, not touching your face, etc. But, at some point there is a balance. You cannot just lock yourself up in your house indefinately and go nowhere.

Florida's crisis didn't start until late June, after Memorial Day and then July 4th holidays. So you had good timing. One plus I've found is that I've decreased my expenses dramatically with not eating out or going to movies, etc. I'm also noticing that masks are becoming much more fashionable. Saw a lady yesterday with her mask matching her outfit nicely. And it has us looking into each other's eyes more and we all know how telling eyes are. Also there's no more dealing with people with bad breath. lol. Life is different, but it's survivable and not all bad.

You all can argue about this lockdown on my former country all you want. The death rate is 0.02%. The present "normal flu" is 0.1% and vehicular, cancer, heart deaths about 2.0%. Note multiple waves of Wuhan = yet no one is doing anything about that region. All pol talk and no action. We will be arriving in Cabo Verde next week = death rate is 0.001%
