    What year boat? I think you hooked it to the freshwater spicket in the cockpit and opened the valve if I remember correctly, but depends on year.

    Understood from a previous issue, There may not be a dedicated shore water connect.
    If you do a double female connect to the cockpit fresh water hose bib, it would be very wise to install an in-line pressure regulator.
    Don't forget also, use potable water hose to eliminate that rubber hose taste.

    2000, i tried that and there must be a check valve in the line.

    New Bern Manuals show that that should work, but i am sure either the hose bib has a check valve or there is one down stream, going to try to hook up in engine room.

    Did you open up the gate valve and turn on the dock side water? Mine is just like what J said. And your manual says that to. Somethings not right here. Make sure your water pump is off before you turn on the dockside water.

    You are not going to fill your potable water tank by hooking to shore water service, just your boat will have water.
    Like most of us, to fill the tank, fill the deck fitting.
    The check valve is in the pressure pump so nothing goes backwards. Another reason a pressure regulator is required. Unless there is a back-flow preventer on the hose bib, the water from the dock should supply water the the boats services. Look for a clunky device, in line about 1.5" long, screwed on the hose bib you are trying to use.

    If a potable tank fill is wanted while serviced by potable dock water, a manual or electric diverter valve can be installed.

    Curious how you have made out? I also have a 2000, and was considering doing similar for time at the dock but have not gotten around to looking at options. Previous owner had a fresh water hose reel installed so currently don't have an cockpit hose bib. thanks
