    Really, the postal inspectors are very busy men and women, but very quiet about their exploits. Must have really put a damper on the party aboard.

    You know, if one day I need to be rescued at sea these guys will put their lives on the line to save my sorry behind. So... I ll cut them some Slack about shoes. Frankly it doesn’t hurt the boat.

    In my experience wet feet running up and down wet teak steps all day cause a lot more wear than shoes. Even high heels. On my boat guests can keep or remove their shoes. I don’t care. At work, same the owner actually prefers women keep the heels on :)

    The Postal Police is gonna come rescue you? You must have some serous connections. :D I encourage non marking shoes, and require them on deck underway or when (un) docking. Way too many things to stub or break a toe on.

    Non-marking soles are what I always had, but guests come in what they come in. I generally keep shoes on, but on those hot summer days barefoot feels really good until...I've got the broken toes from stubbing cleats, stanchions and whatever else and the broken bones from nose to ribs from slipping barefoot. Then there's the blood loss from tearing feet open on non-skid. We had some serious discussions here a few years ago about no shoes on boats, and it appears that the big-boats don't like them. My figuring is that if they can afford a yacht they can afford to replace their carpet better than I can pay medical bills.

    I made the Venezuelan Coast Guard boys leave their black soled boots on the swim-platform. Funny as hell when they took them off and dropped the AK47's in the RIBs. Yep, used to working around with Banana Republic crime families too.
