Starting my search for a Post 46. Had put it on hold for this year due to the Corona Virus, but talking with my broker (has sold all my prior boats) boat sales are very active now. Looking for model II so 1988 or newer. Price range up to 150-170k?

Due to Corona Virus I'm really only able to consider boats within a days drive from Annapolis to inspect (air travel is too high risk at present). That limits to east coast boats. Florida would be a challenging distance, New England and Mid Atlantic are easier.

I am interested in current owners opinions on 6-71 TI/TIB -vs- 6V92 powered boats. What has been your experience with reliability and current service and parts availability.

My wife/crew is more comfortable with having bow rails, has anyone had them retrofitted that could help with a ROM cost to include for comparing boats without them?

We will require all wood floors, no carpet, so boats with carpet I need to include the cost to install wood floors in price considerations. It was $6k to do our 35 Viking, so I'd guess $7.5k for a 46?

I think I would want a bow thruster (add one), would like owner opinions on single-handed and one crew docking without one. Single handed docking at my home dock is easy as it is configured with Tide Slides. Docking with only one crew on windy days at visiting marinas is a question.

I'm keeping an eye on YachtWorld (using the UK edition to get access to the old search) but anyone knowing of boats in their area please feel free to let me know about them.

    Thanks - Greg

Hi Greg, we have a beautiful well maintained 1988 Post 46 that we are selling. Located on the eastern shore of Maryland. You name it, our boat has it, new garmin electronics, SAT TV, every upgrade you can think of and too many to mention. If interested, please let me know.

Angela - I am using my broker as buyers agent. If you send me your brokers contact I can have my agent contact, or I can give her your phone to contact you direct (I don't know how buyers agent works if private seller).

Click on the the member's name to the left of the post. Look for the link to "Start a Conversation" to Private Message. You did an OK job of camouflaging your phone number, but if you can still edit, it would be best to remove it before the "Buy This Now" calls start coming. Moderators may beat you to removing it, though. They're pretty vigilant.

    Greg,

While a bow thruster may certainly make easy work of docking on a windy day, you may want to experience the boat without one for a while and gauge your need. On my 50, I have to say that all but the most challenging docking (perpendicular to a strong current, wind 15+, etc.) are easily managed using the wheels. I can say that in the 6 years or so of owning this boat, I may have had a handful of times where I was wishing for a bow thruster. But, for the cost of install, I'll suffer a few times.

Good luck with your search, I hear the market is very competitive right now.
