I was floating around Fort Lauderdale. Wonderful day. However, I was looking at several of the newer Ocean Alexanders and, my lord, they are impossibly ugly to my eye. It’s like they hired everyone from Carver and told them, “We love everything you did in the 80’s, now let’s just make it bigger.”

Now, now. They may not be for everyone... Horizon has a similar design.
The designers and builders are responding to market trends.

There is worse out there. Do have to scratch my head at every window in the hull being a different size and or orientation.

That style hull and superstructure must be a bear to tie up and get underway.
Line and fender handling looks to be a challenge.

Function follows form..... Remember most people paying the bills don't handle the lines when you get to that size. All about the aesthetics....

I agree with your post, but I agree completely with WiserTime as "they are impossibly ugly to my eye," too. I used to think that Ocean Alexander made a good looking boat in the 68 to 100 foot range -- not anymore.

Does anybody like the looks of the new Ocean Alexander's? You can find them here: https://oceanalexander.com/

The Ed Monk Jr. designed Ocean Alexander’s were the peek of function following form.

Pac, I have to disagree. I think the Monk jr. designs were excellent. I especially liked the short-lived 54/60 trawlers of 2008-10.

Isn’t that what I said, I was paying him a compliment.

A big change from the previous clean lines. Do not like the cluttered deck design, built-in seats everywhere. I prefer open decks with the exception of the aft deck, which looks small for 84'. Glitzy!
