Hey everyone, My starboard floscan tach has slowly stopped reading lower rpms..went from no idle reading “0” to now not reading till 1000-1100 rpms...got worse over 6 months or so.... I’m stumped, any suggestions? TIA
I need to know where your FloScan tach gets it's rpm signal from? Direct drive sender as on Detroits? Tach signal from some alternators on Cats? Pulse signals from many mfgs flywheel ring sender or others. The FloScan tach is as solid as it can be. We need to know the sender source.
Yep. Another quick test is to swap sides with the tachs and see if the problem follows the unit. Most likely source of the problem is at the engine, but swapping shrinks the guess work,
Thanks guys! (Direct drive Ralph) I will do all the above first thing in the AM and report back. Cheers from La Paz.
The ole direct drive is near bomb proof but is subject to some wild vibrations and bad connects. If it is on the cam shaft end. On the end of the ole Glen-Dinning extended cable shaft, even more. Start here by swapping between the engine drives. may not have to swap the senders, just the wires if both senders are on the Glen-Dinning sync box. Next question, does (if equipped) the Glen-Dinning sync box work correctly? bóo-deem zda-ró-vye from da swamps. (To our health)
Yep, on the cam shaft...I’m going to do some boat yoga today and see what I can find. My connections are in excellent shape at the helm so I’m guessing it’s the sender connects as well.... Stay tuned Thanks guys
