FLIBS 2020

I don't see things improving that quickly to go forward with the show. In addition to very few people attending boat sales are strong enough dealers will not display as many boats if they show up at all.
The Palm Beach Show was on then postponed then off...

When they made Palm Beach into a virtual show they gave us the option to either participate in Palm Beach or roll over the deposit into FLIBS which is what we did. My personal opinion is it would be a major ding to the industry if FLIBS didn't go on as planned.

Each visitor will be able to weigh the risks and benefits. While predicting who will see more benefit than risk seems like a difficult task, it appears that the powers that be are ready to go ahead and get closer to figuring that out.

IDK. A major ding to the industry. But from what I heard from a few top motoryacht manufacturers under 100', they're both sold out with a 2-3 year wait.

With that and that I'd guess the booking started after last year's show, I think they'll keep this alive until the last possible minute (rather than have to make refunds). Whether it happens though will depend on what the state and county do right now. It took NY 4 months to get to where we are today, and we took it serious as mass death. (We're still not to the point where we'd do it.) Just heard an interesting analogy tonight. If the number of Americans killed by the virus so far were killed in plane crashes it would be the equivalent of 50 planes crashing per week, and that's not counting the sick. Would people fly if that were the case? I have my doubts that FLIBS will happen, but there's a lot of money involved.

I think it is wishful thinking, even if they do, I know I won't be attending.
This is one of my favorite times of the year, seeing old colleagues, checking out the new equipment, networking and parties.
Will be interesting to see what happens?

I cannot see the show having anywhere near the turn out that it normally would, even if it does actually take place.

During normal times deposits for slots in the show have been sent by now, I’m familiar with several brokerage houses not taking part this year regardless if it goes on or not.

Personally I feel most who are looking to purchase a boat will do the hunting from the comfort of their own home or boat. Once they hone in on something they can easily contact the central agent for a private inspection. Far safer, especially for older people looking to maintain their distance. The virtual boat shows available are changing the way folks gather information prior to a yacht purchase and I believe this will be here to stay even as shows come back into the picture.

I’m saddened because boat show season is my favorite time of year here in FLL however this year I’ll be sitting this one out. Hoping that PBS will take place in spring 2021. Miami has never been a favorite show of mine.

I suppose the organizers and the outfit they are or have hired to maintain a show that is working with the SARS CV2 viral threat.

No 2nd wave. When this combines with the seasonal flu, Tsunami. Heard an interesting analogy: The death toll is equivalent to 50 commercial jetliner crashes per week. I'm betting no FLIBS, but they'll hold off the decision as long as possible like every plan today.

As an Australian who is/was hoping to ski in the US in January 2021, can I respectfully ask (from the current safety of Sydney) , that you find the part of you that put people in space and led the GLOBAL eradication of smallpox. Its time for you to put a working mum, who also coaches her kids sports team and is on the school council, in charge of the effort. In my business experience, they are the people you want - hard to find, but gold. In 4 months you will back to moaning about how hard it is to get into for favourite bar or restaurant.

I am optimistic that the FLIBS show will happen. Infection and death rates from Covid 19 have tailed off dramatically in most northeastern states, and Florida may be behind but not that much. Keep in mind that Florida right now ha only a few more Covid deaths -- around 4800 than Connecticut's 4400, although Florida population of 21 million is far greater than Connecticut's 3.7 million. I am hopeful that infection and death rates will taper down greatly in Florida by the end of August.
