What? Which way? Can you cite your source, please?

I assume you're referring to Canada border but while I saw the extension to July 21, I've seen nothing that says that date won't be moved.

Was on our local news station early this am, our local Min of Health is very concerned here in BC due to the high incidence of 19 in Wa.State.

The Premier of Ontario has come out strongly against reopening as well. I don't think it will reopen on July 21 unless something changes. Quebec seems in favor, Ontario and BC seem against. The July 21 date is just the date extended to from June 21 and August 21 could easily replace it. I've even seen where some Canadian officials see limitations of some form through the end of the year. They're very concerned with how poorly they believe the US has and continues to handle it.

The ticker tape 2 mins ago stated the the Border is slated to open July 21 st and the Health Ministry will address those concerns later today. So, maybe just another extension to come.

That's what I would expect, that later today you'll hear August 21.

So if you purchase a boat (motor yacht) based in the Great Lakes you cannot get it delivered to the East coast ?

Not right now unless it's low enough to get under the bridges on the western end of the Erie Canal from Tonawanda NY .

Can't do that right now as Erie locks not all open. And you can't take it south as Illinois locks not open.

They are allowing deliveries here in BC from the US via water..the dealer or skipper must be registered etc etc and do an immediate turn around back to the US, not sure about going the other way, Lady here just had a 50 ft MY delivered out of Wa. State into Whiterock BC.

Been doing that for a while.
The actual border for non essential traffic is closed until July 21 at which time it is expected to be extended.
Commercial traffic has nothing to do with Mom and Dad taking kiddies to a theme Park.

This is from Canada Border web site:
    https://cbsa-asfc.gc.ca/services/covid/menu-eng.html

    Information for Foreign Boaters
    Information for foreign boaters
Unless you are exempt, you cannot currently enter Canadian waters (territorial sea and internal waters) or boundary waters for discretionary (non-essential) reasons. These reasons include:

    • touring
    • sightseeing
    • pleasure fishing
Consult Entry restrictions for more information.

    Transiting boaters
You may still navigate through international or Canadian waters while in transit directly from one place outside Canada to another place outside Canada, if the transit is:

    • direct
    • continuous/uninterrupted
    • by the most reasonable route
Transiting travellers may only make non-discretionary (essential) stops along the way, including to use facilities, refuel or for essential supplies.

You must follow social distancing practices and wear a non-medical mass or face covering during these stops.

    Anchoring
You may stop and anchor out of ordinary navigation, particularly if it becomes dangerous to navigate at night or if the crew must rest before safely continuing your trip.

If you anchor to spend the night, you must quarantine on your boat. If this is not possible, you may quarantine at a hotel until you are ready to resume your trip.

Consult Quarantine requirement for more information.

    Reporting requirements
If at any point a transiting vessel lands on Canadian soil, anchors, moors or comes alongside another vessel in Canadian waters, or if anyone onboard disembarks in Canada, the operator must report to the CBSA. All entry restrictions apply.

The CBSA and its law enforcement partners are actively monitoring Canadian waterways. If you fail to report to the CBSA, regardless if your purpose is non-discretionary (essential) such as to refuel, you may face severe penalties. Failure to report may also affect your immigration admissibility and ability to re-enter Canada in the future.

Guess we'll find out on the 21st, but can't really blame them. The EU won't let us in either. Heck I won't let us near me. It's hard enough beating this pandemic once.

With the Erie Canal getting ready to open soon I am getting lots of phone calls about Canada Customs for American's to get through the Welland Canal.
Had a call from a owner today who just bought a new boat in the great lakes and I told him to call customs and if he get permission to make sure you get the persons badge number so when you arrive at least you will something to back you up.
He called this morning and was told that he could transit canal but he must have a licensed captain and he must have bill of sale and a contract for captain and crew and that the owner can not be on the boat while in Canada.
I have several loopers trying to get home back to Great Lakes and I have told them to call customs now before they arrive.
We have a family friend who is a Canadian who works in South Carolina and father is very sick and she called Canada Customs and could not get an proper answer, so today she is driving to Ontario and trying to get home.

As long as she is CDN citizen she can cross. However as you know, 14days if bliss before freedom.
Does she have status in the US?
If so she can return as well as neither side will deny entry to individuals that have landed or citizenship.

Last I heard, Canadians are able to travel to US regardless. I had a Canadian come to look at a boat in FL a month or so ago. His only restriction was the 14-day Q when he returned to Canada.

And the biggy...she flew into the USA. This is the loophole. Don't show up at the border with a car. No status, no entry.
