I have no idea if anyone here is interested, but I agreed to blog about our trip for family and friends while the Captain (my Dad) focuses on more important things. I am new to boating having never done a long trip, and found this forum while searching for help with the Simrad system on TheHullTruth. A user there recommended I join this forum as well. I can already see there is a wealth of knowledge and experience here, so I am happy to have joined the community!

I figured I would introduce myself and share a link to our blog. This is non-commercial, no ads, no spam, no offense taken if not a single person clicks the link. There are no sponsors or advertisers and I am not attempting to make a dime, this is purely for entertainment purposes. My Dad is 72, I am 42 and we are both named Ralph. Many of his friends are homebound for various health reasons due to Covid and enjoy reading our story.

If you like reading this kind of thing and seeing photos and hearing about trials and tribulations (thus far, mostly tribulations for us!) then check it out. It runs in reverse order like most blogs. Any advice and comments are appreciated, so don't hesitate to chime in. I love to learn and am focused on gaining as much knowledge and experience as I can during this process. Note- many of my posts contain jokes or sarcasm and occasionally inside jokes, so don't jump to conclusions or get offended. We are open-minded individuals and this is all in good fun.

    Safe boating to all!
    Ralph

Note: I am not allowed to post a link until I have 10 posts apparently. You would have to cut and paste:

Welcome to YF, Ralph. I think you'll find our readers would rather follow a blog, then have a big tech company follow them!

To attach a pic, hit the "Upload a File" button on the lower right corner of the Post Reply box. This will open a window to search your drive. Hit "Browse" and your hard drive files should be visible in a pop-up window. Double click the file you want to insert, then click "Post Reply". We urge members to keep file sizes down to a manageable size, like around 800 to 1000 pixels. This is large enough to see details without using excessive bandwidth. It makes threads load faster and makes it easier for readers to see. You can upload 5 images to each post.

    Let's see Betsy!

Glad you kids finally got underway.
Quick view of your blog proves you are safe and cruising with adventures.
That's what aqua space is all about.

Look forward to some pics here on Y F.

    Good luck on the trip.
Unfortunately you may be in for a surprise when you get to Maine. (I grew up in Maine so very familiar with area.)
It's my understanding that the Maine Governor just imposed a mandatory 14 day quarantine for anyone entering the state, valid until August 31st. So you may get to Maine, but may not be allowed to leave the vessel once you get there. Guess we'll see how that plays out.

We are also from Maine, which is why we are heading up to the Passamaquoddy Bay! I am aware of all of the regulations and frankly, can't do much about it. We are both very health conscious and will do everything we can to protect ourselves and others, but I need to get back to my current home in NH right after we get to Eastport anyway. The inconsistencies surrounding Covid regulations are quite simply laughable at this point. I was on the ME turnpike in the southern part of the state before I left for this trip 2 weeks ago, and you wouldn't even know there were restrictions in place. I will be sure to take some video if the authorities are waiting at port when we land!

Here is Betsy! Isn't she beautiful? I won't post a bunch of pics in a row yet, as I need to double check the sizing so as not to violate forum rules.

Capt Ralph- I believe we (you and my Dad) share mutual friends (Mike and Kathy from vessel Wanderlust)..? I am just putting this together now! In other words, where the hell are you man? The more Ralphs the merrier!

Well the old girl made it to Eastport. I now appreciate the small luxuries in life- a spacious shower, full-sized throne, readily available electricity for charging, etc!

Thanks for the blog, which I enjoyed reading as I have ran a couple of Huckins from Jax to Maine. Were the problems you had with work which had been done at Huckins, or elsewhere in Jax?
    Best,
