Head Not Drawing Water

    I have recently purchased a '99 290 Tournament. When I pump the head to fill it with water, no water is entering. Is there a valve somewhere that I need to open? The two valves in the compartment under the cabin floor are in the open position. Thanks.

    If the seacock (that brings salt water in) is open and the valve at the toilet is turned to pump in water instead of pumping out waste you may need to change the seals. Follow the lines so you know what the valves you're opening are attached to. Besides to intakes for the motors and gen there should be a seacock for the air conditioning, bait wells, the toilet and a Y-valve for directing the waste to the holding tank or overboard.

    On a head of that type and age, if you need to. If the boat has been out of the water, you may need to prime the raw water line. I'd recommend replacing it versus rebuilding it if it comes to that. A new manual flush is not that expensive. You're talking about a manual flush toilet?

    Thanks Capt J. Yes, it has been out of the water so hopefully priming will be the fix. It's a manual toilet and all components appear to be in excellent condition. The previous owner maintained it well.
