No worries. Here is another one, which has been compiled from an ongoing WhatsApp chat amongst a couple hundred captains and agents.

I honestly don’t know how the Bahamas expect to survive unless they announce an opening dates for their borders and do it soon. Resorts and airlines need to prepare for a restart, it s not as easy as hitting the power button to reboot a computer.

in the last week there has been a number of studies in a number of county or states testing people for anti bodies. Oddly enough while these studies have been mentioned, incl the NY study announced by Gov Cuomo, the press doesn’t put these numbers Together with the actual number of death. When you do, it paint a very optimistic picture which makes it hard to the massive economic shutdown

in Miami Dade for instance, 165,000 thousand people have tested positive for anti bodies yet “only” 301 people have died to date. That s a fatality rate of less than 0.2%. Similar to the flu. Look up the Chelsea Ma study and a couple more in California and the numbers as similar. Even NY with infection number of 15% statewide and 20% in NYC.

Hopefully The Bahamas will realize they can’t afford to stay shut down for months

Openings of most economies depend on meeting criteria they've set after much study, and nobody has more than a guess on what date that will happen on. So there will be no long distant dates given by any municipality or nation. Even once the criteria is met most places will have a soft opening, meaning that the Bahamas probably won't open completely on one date. Most likely certain areas and certain businesses will open at different times as they feel it's not too dangerous.

Presence of antibodies only means the person has been in contact with someone who had the virus. It doesn't mean they had the virus. To use those numbers is like using the number of people who have breathed on each other. Does nothing but distract. The main interest in anti-bodies is whether it gives immunity (so far that's not been found to be the case), and to track the spread of the virus. For it to be more valuable far more tests would need to be given, like everybody, but the tests aren't available for that. The high numbers of people shown to have been exposed won't have much meaning until they can figure out why some get the virus and some don't, and we're a long way from that. The numbers cited are confirmed cases and deaths. These are the most relevant and meaningful numbers to the people fighting the virus, but I'm sure there are researchers studying all the numbers. In fact you might have caught the 60 Minutes segment about Blue Dot AI. If not check it out. It's very enlightening. Apparently they figured out what was going to happen on 12/31/19, and warned most of the world's governments on 1/1/20. Some took precautions, and some didn't.
You keep playing on % of this or that. As of today over 55,000 Americans are dead and almost 1,000,000 have been sickened. That's more dead than died in the whole Korean War, and we'll pass the number killed in the entire Viet Nam War by Wednesday. That's 55,000 families who have lost a loved one in just 6 weeks, 55,000 American families in mourning, and besides social distancing we have nothing to fight this virus with, unlike the flu which you keep erroneously comparing it too which has a vaccine and treatment for. Most people understand that making money is of little use to the dead and I know very few who will say that partying with friends is worth killing their loved one for.
I suggest you see what happens to the death rate in Georgia in about 3 weeks. That will be very educational.

“Presence of antibodies only means the person has been in contact with someone who had the virus. It doesn't mean they had the virus.”

wrong. For your immune system to develop anti bodies to a virus, your body must have been infected and have reacted to the virus. It does mean you are immune (unless another strain develops).

read this article about the Chelsea Mass study, the language is clear. Antibodies are created to fight an infection

    https://www.bostonglobe.com/2020/04...ples-taken-chelsea-show-exposure-coronavirus/

Common sense would be that folks at risk, incl those over 65 or 70 should have the option and the right to stay home but the rest of population needs to get back to work.

In the case of the Bahamas they can’t afford for this to go on. When people don’t have money to buy food, what do you think will happen. More will die from the violence than from the virus

I think the government is more qualified to determine what's best for their citizens than we are.

Does it mean you agree with the definition of antibodies?

    Government knows best??

Let me give you an example of how qualified the government is. Below are the new rules published today by Miami Dade County

    Here are my favorite parts:

In the “Launch Area” section, boat ramps...

    • All passengers must board the vessel before it is launched”
Yes... they want people to hop on the boat while on the trailer and backed in the water with people on board!!!

Then in the “not allowed” section :

    • Anchoring, including no anchoring in the shallow sandbars (e.g., Haulover Sandbar, Nixon Beach Sandbar, Sands Cut Sandbar and others)

Even though they have specifically allowed anchoring until today (as long a separation of 50’nis observed) now suddenly NO ANCHORING!!

    Yep... government knows best.

if you re talking about the Bahamas, once again shifting so you don’t have to answer..., you re right. I ve sayed that before. Their house their rules. My house (my boat) my rules not the government.
In the case of the Bahamas they can decide to close their borders for 6 months if they want. Their call.

But when their people end up starving and looting, I hope they don’t count on us to brings massive aid (like I personally did last September) ..: they can call the UN for all I care.

That's your right. But you're wrong about "My house (my boat) my rules not the government"

Actually, that 165,000 number is wrong - you've taken it wildly out of context. Here's the accurate information:

    https://www.miamidade.gov/releases/2020-04-24-sample-testing-results.asp

1,800 people were tested, and based on that, it's extrapolated that 165,000 might be the total number. But, as per the document in my other post, when you don't know the false positive rate of the test, you can't rely on extrapolating to the larger population.

It's not spelled out very clearly in that document about antibody testing, but the way scientists figure out the false positive rate is to compare infection rate that the antibody test indicates with the "real" rate based on the more accurate PCR testing... But that can't happen until there's a lot more "real" testing done.
