Don’t know whether to go to Florida for vacation this week

This is true. A friend of mine was in Ireland for 2 weeks to bury his mom who passed away from heart issues and wanted to be buried with her family. He flew back Monday morning 3/16/20. They started restricting flights from Ireland that evening. They simply asked him if he went to Europe at all during his stay.

I thought he was very mild, simply stating facts and not calling names. You simply dislike his political spin, as you call it, although I didn't find it very political, because his facts conflict with your politics.

I thought Nycaps posts were very good, quite lucid for an old man (my wife said to add that part), but welcomed and I saw no controversy in them. A much calmer Nycap, retirement serving him well. But he's clearly worried as he's in the middle of the state having the most serious problem. We're sure adding cases fast in South Florida though and our hospitals throughout the country are still short of everything they need.

Is it? Or did the Governor, well aware that he is competing with other states for resources and federal money, somehow fenagle 50,000 tests and is testing as fast as he can to get his numbers UP and his squeaky wheel going? Seems to have worked as he got his disaster area declaration today which opens up the money faucet. (Together with California and Washington, the latter of which was most likely the place where this thing fist landed, and thus they got a head start) Or maybe he's even the proxy state by federal design. Who knows.

There is no reason to believe the situation is any better in any other large city with a highly mobile population. Very little time will tell. As you say yourself, things are heating up in FL......

In some good news, there are some existing medications that MAY be effective in the treatment of specifically the ARDS. WHO has agreed to world wide testing in thousands of "volunteers" with data centrally collected which would show any positive results very quickly. IF any of this pans out it would be a game changer.
