Any 66 owners on the forum. Looking for feedback on ride, performance and ownership experience. Not able to find much info on the net about this model.
Welcome to Yacht Forums JW Holt. Looks like you have been a member for a lil bit and just now posting. I know we have some great Ocean owners but not sure on the 66. While we are waiting for a 66 owner to pop up, why are you asking? Shopping and found a 66? Tell us about it. Maybe we can talk about her options and engines and help there. Web sales lead would help also. Have you been on board or been for a ride yet? Thoughts so far?
I don't think they sold very many 66's...…… I used to manage and maintain a 63' Ocean SF for a couple of decades.
Still in the tire kicking phase of moving up from a 40' convertible. I had been looking at the 56 models and came across a cat powered 66 enclosed bridge in Florida. Just trying to do a little research on the model and not coming up with much. https://www.**************/boats/1998/ocean-yachts-66-ss-enclosed-bridge-3470845/
Go get an insurance quote. That’s quick and free. You might be blown away with that cost. I could see that boat costing $75k to $100k a year
Know a Captain that ran and looked after one of these models. No first hand knowledge, but do remember him talking about having to replace the metal fuel tanks. It was a big job, definitely something to check into if pursuing that model boat.
It's very common for fuel tanks in Oceans and a few others to only last 20-25 years and some other builders. They installed the aluminum fuel tanks right against the hull sides in the engine room in most all of the models, and directly underneath the engine room air vents, so in rough seas they get salt mist and stuff all over and under them.
I would suspect you could cover an entire year's expense of that boat with those numbers, and have money left over.
That’s quite a number. Slip and insurance would be a less than 10k of the cost. Short of upgrades or main engine failure I think that number is a little high.
Easily achievable on a 66' Sportfish. Here dockage at a nice marina would be about $20k a year. Insurance $20k a year, plus all of the maintenance, cleaning, etc. and then putting away for deferred maintenance......
