Looking at Flybridge style boats and have always liked the Uniflite/Chris Craft 42 footers. I see most of the Chris Craft's equipped with gas motors. Seems like a lot of boat to move with a gas motor. Any real world experience with a gas powered boat? Thanks.
Jim Welcome to the group. We have an ‘85 425 Catalina, running twin 454 Mercruisers. I’ll be happy to answer any questions you may have.
Gator- how does the boat perform with the gas motors? Speeds? Fuel burn? How do you like the rest of the boat? Thanks
Jim First - we love the boat. The layout is perfect, Aft deck is where we live. Well designed for extended live-aboard, or weekends on the hook. Fuel burn - @ 2800 rpm, 15 - 16 mph, about 14 knots were burning 29 gph. At most speeds she gets .56 mpg. Very comfortable. Max cruise is reported at 20 knots, but I’ve never seen that. We’re comfortable at 16 - 18 knots. 1300 hours on a fresh water boat. No oil burn, good oil pressure and good compression.
