last weekend was filling fresh water tanks. While in mid fill a dock neighbor while coming in lost one engine and thruster. All available hands came to help fend him off other boats.

So I became side tracked and did not get back to my job until tanks were over flowing

I thought when this would happen I would have water over flowing at the deck fill and possibly coming out of the vents. Instead it put about 40 gallons in the bilge.

So bilge is nice and clean but I want to understand, is there a breather Valve or overflow on top of tank that allowed this.

The first place I would check would be the tank's vent line. Very possible it came off or the line has a break.

With my widening girth it is difficult to get to the fill and vent lines. I may get in but getting out could be a problem. I’ll try and send grandson in !

All my boats had external tank vent lines.
Possible a clogged line followed by a compromised fitting under deck: Voila, water in the bilge.
(Or an ill-fitting inspection port with a blown gasket: Water in the bilge again.
Had that on a sailboat with a GRP tank)

Have a similar problem, seems the older I get the higher I have to jack up the car to get under it.
