Bow rail extension aft

    Holding off on the aesthetics conversation. has anyone ever seen a bow rail that is extended aft on a SF. So essentially providing a slight layer of safety as you walk past the cabin. I am assuming there is a stainless guy somewhere who deals in this type of activities. Samble boat would be like a 93 Post 50.

    Very common on S/F in the 1980's like this 65 Hatt.

    yeah that is exactly what I am thinking about. I guess model specific to how well I could access the underside to through bolt it.

    Real common on the west coast where we fish from both the cockpit and the bow.

    Side-mounted Outriggers have to be moved to a bridge mount in order to keep the side access open. Not all manufacturers will get you access to through bolting the rail footings , depends on brand/model.

    On a 50' the side walkway would generally be too narrow to retrofit one if the builder didn't make the side walkway wide enough with one in mind. Keep in mind the railing needs to be inside the rubrail so when you dock in fixed docks, you're not banging and bending the bow rail (side rail). It really depends on the boat. The walkways on a boat like the 65' Hatteras are generally wider than most 50' SF. 51'-54; Riviera FB SF have them and are a lot newer and only a touch more in price and a little more family friendly and less hardcore SF.

    Some older MFGs have alloy plates already in/under the glass for bolting things down. Just drill and tap.
    Not sure about Post.
