  1. Vripack 56-meter Hybrid Concept For Nobiskrug
Vripack has released the design concept for a new hybrid 56-meter superyacht intended for German yard Nobiskrug. One of the interesting features of the vessel is the hybrid technology involved but designed from a standpoint that keeps design and owner in mind. The hybrid yacht features a technically innovative propulsion system that has been developed specifically for this concept. The LOA is 56-meters with a beam of 9.20-meters and a draft of 2.25-meters. Construction would be in steel for the hull and aluminium for the superstructure. Vripack has designed interior, exterior, Naval Architecture and other engineering aspects.
  2. Designed to accommodate the novel yet functional layout, and prioritizing safety and comfort on board at all times, Vripack challenged its subcontractors to produce an evolved engine that optimizes the owner's lifestyle. "To date, yachts like this have height because the big electric motors push the design up - on this concept, we insisted that the dimensions worked for the owner first, and so the engines became 'pancake-like' - instead of up, we went flat and wide. We're pushing innovation in all areas," said co-creative director, Marnix Hoekstra.
  3. The design of the yacht was envisioned to 'break the mould' and move away from the standardized way of doing things. It is pitched at youthfully affluent Middle Eastern or Asian market. It is defined by a classic sheer line, a large over-hanging bow, and a contemporary interior. The 56-meter concept is more akin to the free-flowing layout of a high-end residence found in Hong Kong or Dubai than a typical yacht.
  4. These days glass technology is being pushed to its limits with use on several groundbreaking applications such as on Oceanco's "Dar" or Nobiskrug's "Artefact". On this 56-meter hybrid yacht, glass use will be extensive and be incorporated in a way that has little breaks and interruptions. "It’s a project that takes glass to the next level, optimizing all that the material has to offer," says Joost Mertens, Vripack designer. "All the side walls of the superstructure are made of glass, there is no metal at all. The design is not constrained by any traditional yachting design rules."
  5. Accommodation onboard is for the owner in a large master suite cocooned in glass. Four equally sized double cabins are available for guests. With tender storage moved to the bow, the aft lower deck has direct access to the guest staterooms without interruption. A slightly winding hallway connects the swim platform to the guest cabins on the lower deck via a glass door.
  6. Combining the large yacht lifestyle that typifies Nobiskrug's 500GT-plus platforms with distinctive bow lines, such as the iconic Triple Seven and continuing with further unique ideas, the concept delivers an uncompromised onboard experience in more accessible dimensions. Stand out features onboard include a pool set to the port side of the aft upper deck, a jacuzzi on the sun deck also set to port. Flowing, uncluttered tapered lines characterize the external appearance of this hybrid 56-meter.
