Do any of those ships fly the US flag? Since they're all built out of the US, I don't believe any of them fly our National Ensign. So, I'm not believe they would be impacted at all but I would be curious to know for sure.

Great unanswered question. There has been some statement that tickets already paid for could be used still legally, but with Homeland Security changing opinions daily and the head of HS and the President often disagreeing on matters, I don't think anyone can be sure, especially if a few months out. How are agents going to know whether it was a permissible trip or not?

I believe ultimately the cruise lines will cancel all the future trips. Unable to continue booking, unable to book closer to the date, they won't run full, likely not even close, and so the trips won't be profitable and will be cancelled.

The question is not unanswered. As the headline of the article that I attached a link to states...

U.S. cruise operators stop sailing to Cuba

I can’t find how much fees Cuba charges for each passenger but they require a Visa which costs $75 and apparently is handled by the cruise lines. Assuming $25 arrival / departure fee, that s $100 minimum per passenger... 3000 per cattle ship... that’s $300k per ship. Plus piloting fees, dock and port, etc.

So one ship per day (if not more...) that’s a couple of millions a week in the coffers of the regime every week. $100M a year minimum.

Yep, let s hit them where it hurts.

Who really cares about hurting just another third world island country. America should simply stay out of other countries Politics. Cuba would never become a threat to the US. I just honestly haven't seen the reason that we have had an embargo against them for so many decades.

I think there are valid arguments on both sides. What is sure is that if Europe had not assisted Cuba after the fall of the Soviet Union with aid and also investment in resorts , the people of Cuba would be free by now.

As to Cuba not being a threat, yes and no. Cuba itself isn’t a threat but Cuba supported by China and or Russia is a real threat.

I don’t mind some easing up of the embargo but allowing the regime to collect tens of millions in hard currency thru cruise ships is too much

Many are breaking the rules to make a buck off of Cuba and ignoring who's pocket the tourist money lands in.

FYI, four US boats were already there, so they fished the tournament. A team from Bulgaria on The Lucky One won it -

Second place to Genoves from Cuba, third to Club Nautico II from Chile. Everyone had a good time including our group of observers. No hassles, no interventions at sea. Just a nice pleasant trip.

Assuming all had fun, are safe and won't have any problems going home.
