    A loss of steering or engine controls could disable it.

    I wondered about that too. I thought the only time the CG gets invloved around here is imminent peril of passengers and crew.

    No commercial tow serves the area where it was. Apparently, it's fairly common for the CG to tow along the WA and OR coasts from what I've been told elsewhere.

    The USCG will tow when there are no commercial towing services in the area.
