    A single ECM is around $4250.00 inclusive of programming, for a simple (4 function) box the size of a cigarette pack. Yes I agree it is expensive.

    With millions of automobiles out there, After many (MANY) years of continued improvement, I still hear of ECM failures on even newer cars.
    Just my stuff; The Anti-Lock-Up controller in the van is bad (FM) of all things. Cruise control module in the Burb is bad.

    Most all are just this box with wires or connects from it. I'm sure made the cheapest way possible and everybody in the delivery chain makes 100% markup before it's installed under the hood.
    Now, add a few more folk in the chain, ad marine to the box and faint when it's installed in your ER.

    New technologies do make engines run better. When their running, all have big smiles.

    However; When we launch our ship for Aqua Space, My confidence is high that we will return when some other may not; We don't need no stinking ECMs..

    Hello, I'm considering selling "Powertool" she's a 95 with 6V92's @565hp and cruises 23 knots at 40 GPH. I've put a lot of money into her in the last 3 years including paint,canvas, electronics, port engine re-build etc.. let me know if you want more info, I'd like to avoid a broker if possible.

    Hello, i did list the boat with Weber Yachts in Ft Myers, they've produced a really cool video that gives you a good idea of the condition. I've spent close to $100K in the last 5 years getting her as nice as any 95 46' Post on the market today (every owner thinks so!)     OP do research on the 47 Post before buying. I think you may hear of scary following seas handling characteristics. They may have been solved with larger rudders. I don’t know. But I did know an acquaintance who sold his because of this issue. He bought a Post 50 and was very satisfied. I believe the following sea issue was corroborated by someone else but can’t remember. Maybe some Post experts will chime in.

    My 1995 46' boat is what is known as the MK II which is a different hull form created in 1990 than the 46's that gained the reputation for poor down seas handling. My rudders are fairly large compared to other boats I see out of the water and If I remember correctly the MK II's (post 1990) have a deeper dead rise as well. I love the way she handles in all points of sail and would suggest if your budget allows to look for a 692 equipped boat with hp under 565. Its a lively and economical combination.

    What he says is correct. I have a 1992 model and it definitely has more deadrise than the older models. Down sea handling is no worse than any other boat in this class. We've spent many days with a following sea and no issues. We try to keep as much weight aft as possible, but we have always made it a point to do that in any boat we've owned. As for the 6V92s, if you maintain them properly, don't over prop them and don't overheat them, they will perform well for a long time. We're at 2500 hours on the 550 HP versions with no issues other than routine maintenance.

    Volvos, though a nice engine, were not a popular engines for Post Yachts. I'm not sure if they were factory offered. Some one here can tell us? Interesting that the OP doesn't think Posts are "fast" in addition to being luxurious. Was she/he looking at Donzis before? Any body who has run the LI sound with me knows a Post's speed, I'm not bashful on the throttles or the seas. The 50' and the 820 Mans were the marriage from heaven. I have a 20 year old production boat - catch me if you can! Cruise at 30 top end 36. Shinnecock to Montauk, I'm there in an hour. Nice. I can do ten knots when I want to have lunch and a soda - and that's one engine, btw

    What a braggart I am - but I love my Post - its my coffin in answer to other threads.

    The 50' with 820 mans was the best boat Post ever made (granted I have no experience with the newer 53' and 56'). It is light years ahead of the older 42's and 46's.

    I ran a 50 with 820 mans after I replaced the drive coupler. I was very impressed with its handling, and cruise speed. 28-29 knots going fairly easy on her

    1850 I run 28 knots at 1950 I run 30, 2300 I run 35. I think that's pretty typical of the 820 package. Don't sit at the dock foe 3 weeks in July and expect to do that ,,,,, I run 1850 all day, about 50 gph . CSH to Newport sea buoy in about 4 hours - 3 footers even

    In the mid 90's Post change the 46 hull and moved the fuel tank aft where in needed to be. The 46 then became the 47 and the ride was reported much improved. The one we were looking at had a roomy er with inline 6 cyl's. Always like the Post layouts and design, especially after the mid 90's changes. Surprised some builder did not buy the molds and continue those models.

    Someone bought all/most of the molds, but nothing ever developed, they're at Worton Creek Marina, sad to see them not used....great boats.

    John Patnovic bought Post out of bankruptcy and moved all the molds, parts, tooling and everything else he wanted from Mays Landing, NJ to Worton Creek, MD. Sadly, I think you will never see another Post built.

    Too bad, they had been around a longtime with a good reputation. Hopefully, they will be back building Post's.
