Headliner needs help

    The headliner on my center console was coming away from the fiberglass structure and quite frankly was looking pretty bad so I had upholstery guy come in and replace it.
    A month later the glue that held it in place was letting go and it was sagging.
    In my usual style and grace i cursed him for using a subpar glue and went about regluing it myself.
    I used 3M 77 adhesive, it's my go to product for spray adhesive.

    Yesterday I opened the door and the headliner was down again. It lasted a grand total of 2weeks.
    So now I have a problem, why is the glue failing and what glue is the solution.
    I have a feeling that the heat might be a problem, it's under a mooring cover and SW Florida isn't the coolest environment.
    Any solutions from the Brain trust ?

    Without a photo I would take a guess and say replace it with a solid surface product like starboard or high pressure laminate held in with screws or trim. You'll never have to mess with it again. But again I can't see what you're dealing with.

    I thought of that but it's a compound curved surface so any hard sheeting is out of the question.
    What ever glue that the manufacturer used lasted about 10 years .

    If you used 3m77 for head liner you went from sub par to sub sub par total wong product for the job . You need a high heat adhesive such s Dapp landau top and trim adhesive , 3m also makes a product for this application . The problem now s you have to remove all the old adhesive because it s the weakest link .

    That's what I was thinking as well.
    I found a product..polymat 797 that appears to be ok. Ever heard of this product? I'll check out the one you suggested as well
