Due for official splash? The yacht has been splashed since late January or early Feb.

They took off the blue protective film. IMO Project SHU is one of the best looking giga-yachts out there.

DrDuu posted a new video where you can see it closely:

I have to agree she is one of the best looking giga- yachts out there. Design is interesting and I like the hulk color. Hopefully I get to see her in Miami, Fort Lauderdale or Palm Beach!

Are you sure? Or do you mean Sassi, which is currently in the dry dock?

Imperial yachts confirmed that she is 136m in length. They also announced to my surprise that she is actually a Espen Oeino design. For me she looked more like a Heywood design.

Just speculation, but could she perhaps be the successor to the 60M Arkley? Same interior designer and Arkley was also an Imperial project.

I guess SHU's predecessor was also built in Germany (albeit not in the same yard as Arkley), share SHU's color scheme and had a dutch escort ship full of toys.

They also shared the same interior design and management companies.

The owner previously had a support vessel Sea Axe. He is Russian. His name is andrei komarov . The yacht is 146M not 136 as reported.

The representative of the owner, Imperial yachts, already confirms, that SHU is 136m. Project Sassi, which will be the next major launch, is 146m.

I'm only repeating what the Designers told me at least 14 months ago. You may be correct:)

Mark you do realize that the 136-meter LOA was stated by Lurssen themselves, so I do not know where you get 146-meters.

At MYS Peter Luerssen said that Project SHU will be delivered in the beginning of 2019.

Is it just my impression or these large Luerssen yachts are taking more time to be delivered than they used to? They're being delivered around one year (sometimes even more) after their official launch.

The average time between launch and delivery of large lürssen yachts is 8-9 month.

It was always scheduled for a September 18 hand over. Any number of reasons could cause the small delay. It's a huge project. The owner could have changed a few things after the sea trials.

Thunder took very long time as well. Did Lurssen give an interview regarding the fire or what has happened to the yacht in construction in the shed etc?

"FLYING FOX" has now been delivered, she left the yard very recently and is enroute to Norway.

There are other reasons than technical problems preventing a yacht from being delivered quickly after technical launch. A bill not paid, an owner change during built with the new owner implementing changes to the boat or just an owner requesting changes to the project after signature are just a few examples. By the way the last reason is the best thing, that can happen to a yard during a building process. Open buget, no more timeline, big profits!

The time between technical launch and final delivery is no indication of problems during the build or the performance of a yard. Project planning and a very busy yard may cause the need for an empty shed for the next project. If the hull is ready for the inviroments, why not completing the project with the yacht already moored to Quai.

And the first journey to Norway is the typical VAT evasive maneuver for EU built yachts. Closest non EU harbour from northern Europe. In the very near future those first journies may go to GB :) (Brexit).

Btw. the Brexit may have some very heavy influence on the yachting world and most other industries in Europe in case of a hard Brexit, which is most likely at the moment. And the British people will be the main victims.
