Hello, I have an '81 42' ocean sunliner and I'm trying to figure out what the factory used on the interior teak trim and bulkheads. It seems to be some sort of varnish/stain combination. I've tried interlux satin interior varnish but was too glossy and clear. Seems to be an old Pacemaker/Ocean concoction the Leek family made up?
    Any ideas would be helpful.

maybe try some tongue oil on a spot that is not seen and see what that looks like.

I had to look up tongue oil, heard of it but didn't know how it works. After looking over some short "how to" videos, I don't believe that's it.
What ever Ocean used was applied with a brush and left to dry. I can see the brush marks along with darker and lighter sections. My boat was not Ocean's best effort unfortunately. Not sure if tongue oil could be brushed on and left to dry? Must be rubbed , right?

Are you sure someone else didn't refinish it along the way?

Boomer!! ..lol, yes I'm pretty sure no one did along the way. All of the finish matches up through out the boat , including the hard to get to and see areas behind equipment and built in stuff.
I'm just trying to fix up some scuffs and scratches. Also blend in around the forward three windows , I'm not looking to re-do the interior.

I would go to the best furniture store close to your location, walk into the delivery part at their warehouse and talk to the touch-up guy about helping you on his/her day off, that is what they do all day long, touch up and matching colors and finishes in wood furniture before delivery, every piece gets inspected to prevent expensive returns, if someone knows it will be one of them, good luck.

Could be polyshades from minwax...Stain and urethane in one? Our boat has been totally refinished in cherry veneer so it is difficult to offer more opinions

Yes , That's what I think Ocean used on this in '81.. some stain/varnish combo , to speed up production time. Funny, was at the Hardware store in Cape May this weekend looking over that minwax combo stuff...in satin. I'm going to take a drawer /door in from the boat to match up to the minwax wood treated samples.
