Would like to keep a tender on HYD swim platform not on the aft fly deck or bow area and not interested in towing a tender or CC.

Viking does allow a good amount of customization so maybe you can get a layout you like.

Rule nr one, Buy the boat you really need, not the one you think you will need need one day.. in your first post, you mentioned the caribbean which includes the bahamas, greater and lesser antilles.

Realistically, if you will only get to the bahamas, pretty much any boat will get you there comfortably. The greater and lesser antilles will require longer passages and the ability to comfortably handle rougher water is more important. So the question is weather you will really got that far south and whether it s worth sacrificing fuel economy and a prefed layout. Trip to the bahamas can be done in a couple of weeks, further down require a lot mor free time, at least two or three months

So how many people will you have on board? My wife and I can do an older Hatt 70'-ish MY with lower helm by ourselves. I'm confident I could single hand one in a pinch. We walked through all the ergonomics on a couple before deciding we just didn't need anything that big. The new 70 with no lower helm? No possible way!

You can have wing stations on the lower deck.......easy peasy.

It would be my wife and I handling the boat even when we have more onboard. I've used other to assist when we went out and returned to dock and explained exactly what I needed them to do and it never works out. So it is best for her and I undock and dock the boat. I will have two stations on the aft deck so when I stern in I can from port or stbd with out issue. With the Cat 360 Joy stick or the Joy stick from twin disk not sure which is on this boat it will make it easy to dock the boat if I'm having issues manually using the rudders, shifters and bow thruster.

For insurance who should I look into and who should I stay away from? Loaded question I know. And what would I be looking at for premiums? Thinking of keeping the boat in Cape Canaveral FL for the winter months and Georgia or cruise up the east coast or Lake Michigan for hurricane season. Plus's or minus's for this? Currently I have only boated on Lake Michigan so insurance is not expensive as it is on the hard for 6 months of the year.

Cat 360 is the factory option on the 75' Hatteras.

Many newer boats dont have lower helms, they take a lot of space and nowadays with hardtops and quality enclosures they are not as needed as they used to be

Engine controls on the aft deck are sufficient in 99% of cases especially as modern boats now have stairs to the aft deck instead of ladders, allowing you to get down to the stern controls pretty quickly

Personally i rarely let people help out with lines during docking, even when they are boat owners and experience, unless they are used to larger boats. Everytime i ve tried, it didnt work out. They either dont listen to instructions or do silly thing like trying to push th boat. Line handling on a 70 footer and larger is way to different from a 40 footer.

I run an 84 footer with my girlfriend and dont need any additional help. She typically handle the springs and bow, and being on the aft deck i can handle the stern. I often singlehand the boat to get fuel or she s busy with guests, as long as the boat has side decks it s no big deal.

As to insurance, i think you asked on the Hatt forum, somebody mentioned an agent in cocoa beach many have used before
