My Kohler generator has begun showing the LOC warning and shutting down shortly after startup. The impeller is fine, seacock is open, there is coolant in the container, and there is water flow exiting. Any other ideas to check?
How long has it been since the heat exchanger has been removed and cleaned? How much water flow is exiting? Take an infrared heat gun and see what temperature the motor is running at. Could also be a sender, Kohler usually has one on the raw water side for flow, one on the exhaust riser for exhaust heat, one for coolant temp, and also check thermostat.
Can you offer a model number? White wire LOC faults may come from multi sensor points, some not related. OR, a chafed white wire.
My 8 Kw Kohler had 107 hours but had been in the water unused for several years. I found that my loss of water flow was due to marine growth right up inside the elbow. I needed to disconnect the hose at the elbow & flush through a 'barnacle buster' type of fluid several times over 2 days to dissolve the hard shell marine growth that had built up. I as there is no way to soak it, I used a lot. I found that buying & diluting a large can of rust remover which is the same formula at the discount store the cheapest way. But of course using the approved marine barnacle buster is the safest.
You need to see if you have water flow on exhaust, if yes that maybe only the sea water pressure sensor faulty. That happen very ofter that just sensor problem Hugues
I've read they need to see voltage from the generator once started, if not they shut down. Any way to watch the output voltage as it starts and gets up to speed?
