The local newspapers in northern Germany have articles and pictures this morning about White Pearl and her float out / mast stepping.

The following pictures are provided by courtesy of DPA

The airdraft of White Pearl is supposed to be somewhere between 295 ft and 330 ft. It will be interesting to see her leaving the Baltic Sea for the Seven Seas. The Kiel Canal has an airdraft limit of less than 165 ft, the Storebelt Bridge in Denmark has an airdraft limit of 215 ft and the Oeresund Bridge near Malmö an airdraft limit of 187 ft. And acording to my humble knowledge the Baltic sea has no other exit for ocean going ships.

So, they either have to pull the 3 sail carrying masts again after the sea trails, leave the Baltic Sea as a power boat and then find a yard with a cran big enough to reinstall them north of the Storebelt Bridge. Even the yards giant gentry cran (one of the biggest in Europe) was not high enough to install the masts. They had to build some special crossbeams in order to lift those giant bananas. They even can not go to Hamburg (Blohm & Voss), the Elbe River has an Airdraft limit of 236 ft due to some power lines. Or may be they are using this famous trick shown on YF and heel this "little sailboat" when passing the Storebelt Bridge :).

IMHO, this "boat" does not need any sails, this hull has enough sail area itself :p. With some crosswind, her skipper will need quite powerfull transverse thrusters for docking. Very interesting design, at least!

Nobiskrug has started construction of an 80m apparently designed by Gregory C. Marshall of Big Fish fame.

The 80m is not exactly easy on the eye at this point.

I'm not to sure about this design at all.. Of course I won't make my official opinion about her until she is finished. But she just looks too ugly. Worse then SY/A almost. Should of had Lars design her..

It's being reported that Nobiskrug has signed for a 77m, the line drawings with the press release are very reminiscent of the Royal Huisman Dart 80 concept. The Designers are Winch for the exterior and Sinot for the interior.
