Flooring

I changed out carpet for a water proof luxury vinyl tile, It comes in very realistic wood grain, even teak. easy to cut and glue down installation. Two or three brands available at carpet stores. It is a little heavy so not recommend for large hatches.

Mine were redone with a teak/holly style laminate by previous owner but if I were to do it myself today I’d do vinyl tile planks also. I just did a house in them and they were very easy to install, look great, durable, waterproof.

The carpet on the interior hillside isn’t the most modern look - but it definitely cuts down on the slooping and sloshing noises while sleeping. I’ve chosen to keep it for the time being.

My galley and heads are original teak/holly and I do still like the look. I stayed with carpet as well. I think my boat is quiet, as a result, when anchoring out. In closets and cabinets I found some commercial grade weave with a sponge backing that matches the original. I glued it with the 3M adhesive spray. Keeps every thing clean and quiet inside. Love to see some pictures of the vinyl floors.

I have sold the boat that had vinyl flooring. I thought noise would be a problem, my engines were right under the vinyl flooring but as it turned out the vinyl actually transmitted less noise. The boat cabin was quite a bit less noisy even with engines running and underway.

Your fridge install looks a lot like mine before I got it finished off. I wound up building a platform as well to make it higher so that I could get more depth as the fridge hole gets deeper as the hull rises. Looks like i went a little higher than yours. I wound up cutting out the back of the fridge hole near the top with a sawzall to get the full height, top of my replacement fridge is right at top of hole. It was a lot to cut away .. Post really has wood and bracing everywhere. I don’t seem to have compromised the support of anything above though and now my replacement fridge, which was standard appliance store size sits flush. I forgot to take a picture of the trim I made for the bottom before putting her away for the winter but I will soon and post.

Was just at the Palm Beach boat show yesterday and picked up a sample of Plasteak vinyl sheet. Want to put it in the head. Seems easy to cut with a razor blade and glue to the subfloor. But I think I see seams, so you have the click\lock one? Is that teak & holly satin? That is what I was looking at. Thanks, Mark

I ended up going with Amtico, I believe this is the same product that Viking uses in current builds. Here is a pic of mine going in. I can recommend a distributor if needed.
