First, the mysterious aft cabin shower sump. I have read all the other threads in regards to other carver models but none have mentioned the 4207. Can any owners chime in as to where it is located? The aft head is currently not working, but I doubt the two are related.

The boat appears to have two fresh water hookups, port and starboard. I hooked up the starboard side and water poured into the engine room. Is there a shut off for the hookups? if so where is it located? All the plumbing is tucked behind the gas tank and difficult to get to.

Other than those two items and the bad water heater, everything seems to work. Boat has been sitting uncovered for a year or two and needs some serious cleaning, new canvas and a cabin refresh. I love projects and am fortunate to own a custom bodyshop that can handle the complete job.

I read an earlier post about another Carver, but I'm not sure if it's the same model...anywho...check inside the drawers at or around the bed in that stateroom. They mentioned that if you removed the drawers, you can see the hatch in the sole there.

    Hope this helps.

Edit: Here is the link regarding this. Please read thru it and see if anything pertains to your vessel.

    The missing shower sump

That was us that had the hidden aft shower sump. As I was directed, I removed the drawer located at the foot of the bed and stuck my head in the cavity, I looked to the left and there and behold was the shower sump.
Or you can remove the deck hatches located on the port side of the bed, Either way you have access to the sump. Our boat model is a 1989 3807. But the 4207 is the same layout. I felt the shower drain was running too slow, so I replaced the hose, sump, and pump. much better drainage now. Now I plan on replacing the crown heads with vacuflush. Good luck. We love our 3807.

If you haven't found this yet, check under the bed pedestal. If you lift up the mattress there is an access panel in the middle of the bed that should get you to the bilge area.

Located it on the floor between the bed and head. Needed to peel back the carpet to expose the access panel. Not the smartest design

Regarding water pouring in the engine room.....

on my city water hook up there is a drain valve before in between the inlet and the pressure valve.

first time i hooked up to dock/city water it poured in the ER till i found the drain valve.

I dont have a carver, but you may have a similar set up.

    best of luck

You can also access the starboard fresh water under the wet bar area in the salon. If you open the cabinet then there is a access panel that you can reach it from. I had to replace my valve do to a leak.
Now I am trying to track down a leak from the fresh water side forward of the engine room. When I turn on the water pump, Water drains from the hole under the hot water heater. NO leaks from the kitchen sink, forward sink or shower. I can't see the lines.
