Hi, can anyone give me an estimate, or facts, about the fuel consumption of a Sq52 with the 610's installed. Thanks. Also be interested to know of any known issues with these 2000/2001 boats.
Hi. At 20kts planning/crusing, you will get about 0.6nm per UK gallon No bad issues with those boats. Can be excellent buy, becuase the market demand isn't great for them due to the 2 cabin layout. Most buyers want 3 cabins. But if you are ok with two cabins then you get a very nice mini-superyacht boat for your money (In later builds of this model they squeezed a 3rd cabin in, I know, but it was small)
The Volvo Penta TAMD 122P engines have a fuel consumption of approx. 110 Litres/hour at an engine speed of 1900 r/min........this will be your cruising rpm. I have attached a graph which shows you the fuel consumption at the various engine speeds.
OUCH !! Thank you, that's really helpful, though I'm beginning to rethink the whole thing with that sort of consumption. UK fuel prices really suck. What is the difference between the two graph lines. The dotted one looks a lot more friendly
Hi, The dotted on is identified as No 2 which the legend says is the calculated prop load. Your real life F.O. Cons will be between the two lines till the top when they meet.
Yes, I noted the two legends, so is it like a best and worst case scenario? Fully loaded with fuel, water, stuff and people, or with fuel and water light, and just a skipper? Sorry if I'm a bit dense on this, but it's pretty big numbers at more than £10 per mile. Going down the coast 25miles for lunch sounds like a £500 round trip, and that's without lunch !! Am I right in thinking that the fuel consumption for the Sq50 and the Sq52 each with the 122's, would be about the same. Also, what is the weight of thee two boats. Thanks, Tim
Hi. I have been looking for fuel consumption for my Fairline SQ 55 with twin Volvo Penta TAMD 122 p edc innstalled 1999 modell, and have been looking at this above. Would it be correct to assume that at 1900 rpm The consumption is 110 litres an hour on both engines together? For me that sounds pretty awsome specially when reaching 24 knots at this rpm. I hope anyone can clarify for mee, as this post is pretty old . Thanks to all that can contribute . Best regards Svein.
At 1900 rpm looks like 75 liters per hour per engine for a combined fuel burn of 150 liters per hour. The graph is for one engine only. Caveat - you have to be able to make at least 2250 rpm at wide open throttle to stay within the dashed "propeller law" curve.
Hi thank you for explaining, so The dotted line would be times two for two engines, that makes more sense. I actually reach a bit more than 2250 so that is really good around 2280. Thanks again and have A really Nice summer .
