this is the only group i have found. I have been working on my 40 for about three years. The first year I kept it in doors on the hard. After i had it soda blasted I had to fix over 500 blisters and imperfections! The interior has been an ongoing project. I am only the third owner and the second owner only had it for a year. I keep both previous owners up to date on all changes.

I owned three sailboats prior to my Viking 40. Moving to power made the wife VERY happy!!

Albeit late, I too have a vintage Viking an '86 35 convertible, that we are on our second season bringing her back to life. Her interior has been redone, new carpets, window treatments, valances, etc. Her 3208's received new injectors, aftercoolers, and turbos, bridge received a new enclosure and a myriad of updated electronics, and repropped with 4 blade 22X20's (brought up the cruise 2 knots to 22 without almost no effect on top end maybe a 1/2 knot 25.7). We're having a ball, just got back from a weekend cruise. We've been looking for others who share the "Viking Bug".

This winter we did our usual maintenance but added replacing all through hulls and clean/tune propellers. Added two knots to our cruising speed, from 18 to 20. Should have done this a couple of years ago.

We have had our almost 2 years now and have done a lot of up grades. Next week she's getting a new Phasor 8kw generator the engine room painting. The 23 year old Onan is being to stubborn for my likings. Later on in the year I plan to do new counter tops and sink.

We looked at new stone counted tops but became concerned with added weight forward in the boat so we ended up refinishing the tops we had.

That's one of my concerns too. What did you use? They look nice?

We used a finish we found in Home Depot. Our intent is to eventually replace with stainless steel. bathroom.jpg

Great boat! Welcome to the club. It is generally pretty quiet on here.

    Good Luck!
I've been looking for Ten years off and on. The only hope is if you see one in a Marine resale shop or someone is taking one off because they lost the other

I haven't found any as well. I don't think they would be that hard to make by a metal or wood shop.

    Actually they would.
They would have to be cast using aluminum. You can't use wood up there for obvious reasons.
In order to cast the one you're missing you'd need to borrow one from someone to use as a pattern since they are opposite hands on the boat.
I suspect you'll pay a casting company a minimum of $1000 for a one off.

Did you try calling the factory , I was just there a month a go for some rub rail for my 86 41'. They have a lot of stock for older models and are very helpful .

Yes, did that year's ago when I lost the emblem. They stopped stocking them when they eliminated it from the newer boat production.

35ft 1986 to add to the vintage club! Any recommendations on props for the 3208 TA 375hp? Just noticed MBevins hails from the same city!
