    Hi All,

I have taken the Bow Pulpit off (thanks Shawn) the front of my 1979 42 and am conflicted about what to put back. I am running into a few mods I am going to have to make to the pulpit, so as I might be doing more work thank I thought, I am rethinking what I want to do.

Other than shortening the over all length, not having the pulpit seems to make the boat look more sporty. I also will have the rail off for at least this year.

I have seen a few Posts for sale online that have just the roller and the windlass. It appears they built some type of covering board to bring the deck level even with the toe rail. This caps off the old windlass hole in the deck and also allows the bow roller to be mounted strongly.

Has anyone done this? I have an idea in my head how it might work, but would love to hear some pointers or see a someone's finished project.

    Thanks.

We had to remove the pulpit on our 46 Post as our slip had an loa limit of 48' - 0" and it also had a Swim Platform. I basically marked off the location of the deck interface of the pulpit and had a fiberglass piece made to match so that it would fit the exact imprint left after removing the pulpit . Used the same hole patterns etc. then installed a bow roller that would flip for and aft, so when not in use it stored aft, when in use it flipped forward and hung off a few inches for deck/hull clearance. Sorry I don't have pictures. Kept the original pulpit around as it went with the boat when we sold it.

    Bob,

Right now its in my basement and I am restoring it. I basically filled in all the screw hole from the teak covering board that were on it and fixed the stress cracks. I have put the additional modifications on Pause right now until I finish my research on this idea.

There is a chance it is going to go back onto the boat, but If I do not end up using it I have a few folks who might be interested in it.
