I was reading a thread about towing tenders, so I decided to ask if any member has towed a Sea Doo Sportster.

They are pretty flat bottom so I'm not quite sure what to expect.

I haven't purchased the boat yet, but if it would be a big problem I might not buy it.

If you tow a jet, you need to install a valve and shut off the water flow to the motor. I don't know how the sporster tows but if there isn't enough drag, they usually will wander from side to side of the stern wake from what I've experienced.

Years ago a friend devised a way to tow his Sea-Do close behind his 30ish stern-drive express. He used the longest mooring whip, attached to his boats transom pointing back (aft). Then tied the whip to the aft end of the Sea-Do.
A painter from the bow of the Sea-Do came back to a stern cleat on his boat.
At any speed and following waves, the whip kept the Sea-Do off his stern.

There's a Canadian company that makes just what your talking about. I know nothing about the product other than what I saw online.

Magic Marine Tow is the name of the company.

I've towed a smaller jet tender and threw a 10' length of heavy chain tied to 15' of 3 strand in front of it tied to the stern of the tender and the drag helps it tow straight.

Finally got that 74 Hat up here, guess what?
They did the same thing from each end of the swim platform (port - stb) and towed two wet bikes.

Yes, I thought the price seamed a little steep.

Quick scan on the web; a kit with two 18 foot whips was just under $900.
    Lots were less expensive.

Shipping by truck, maybe another $50 to $70.
