Feadship's Utopia was docked at Bahia Mar recently and thought you might enjoy a few close up pictures. In speaking with reps from Feadship at the Ft. Lauderdale show, she is essentially based on the design of Wedge Two, a previous Feadship launch. A 235 feet, Utopia is one of the largest Feadships built to date. She was the second yacht and the larger of a two-boat order for a repeat client. Unfortunately, the owner passed away before Utopia was completed and Feadship finished her as a spec yacht. Arguably the most complex Feadship ever built, the engineroom, with separate control and generator rooms, takes up TWO decks! The helicopter pad has a unique securing hook, originally developed for military applications, that secures a helicopter to the deck within seconds of landing. Utopia has five guest staterooms, three on the main deck and two on the lower deck. The owner’s suite occupies the entire middle deck.
She takes up a good portion of the north end of Bahia Mar's docks. This bow picture shows the unmistakeable resemblence to Wedge 2.
A rear quarter picture. It's hard to fit this yacht into the lense of a camera when you are close-up. She's as tall as the mast on many sailboats!
The observation stansions just off the pilothouse cleanly protrude out from the lines of the yacht, without looking like bug-eyes.
Idling by her in the afternoon sun, you get a glimpse down the lines of the hull, which are flawlessly smooth.
She has a very narrow beam, but is mechanically well stabilized, making her efficient into a heading sea...
Some inside Pictures She is still for Sale Anybody interested i will show some of the inside pictures
Thank you for the pictures! She is indeed a very beautiful yacht! But she isnt the largest Feadship any more. Shortly after her the 85m Ecstasea was launched from VanLent.
That's true, Ecstasea is the largest. I didn't spell check before uploading. Too many things going on around here. I had originally meant to say "one of the largest", but left out "one of". Sorry! Between writing code, writing stories, marketing the site and all the other things that go on behind the scene, I appreciate you double checking my accuracy. Thanks!
Interior of Utopia Does anyone find the interior bland and uninteresting with all the neutral colors on the one hand, and rather retro on the other with that kind of moulding on the stair rail, in fact all the wood? Especially when compared with a stunning decor such as was provided for Blue Moon. Of course, I realize why they would do this if they had to complete the yacht on spec, but if you look at the brochure on the Speadship web site, they were rather relentless about it (during the building they specified various options, all of which were variations of gray and beige). I guess whoever buys it is going to have to make the decor more interesting by the accents, which are now evidently absent. Also, does that pic of the salon look narrow and cramped to you? I realize the narrow beam, and also the concept of tricks of photography, but there is no sense of spaciousness or luxury there at all to my eye.
I don't think that relentless port/starboard symmetry in the salon furnishings helps any either. Kelly Cook
Today Utopia arrived in Amsterdam. Will she get a new name on her stern? http://community.webshots.com/photo/549909915/2222592710089727618yVoKpg
m/y Utopia back into service. The Feadship m/y Utopia left the covered building shed at the Makkum yard recently. She obviously had some 'minor' works done to her. Included in the minor works were one or two modifications and these were the addition of a new SATCOM or 'dummy' dome at the top of the radar mast. Another notable feature is the new external stairway that is located at the aft end of the yacht. The new stairway makes it easier to traverse between the Sun and Bridge deck.
"Utopia Dv" changes price currency 71-meter Feadship "Utopia Dv" has been up for sale for a while now in USD but now her currency has been changed to Euros according to Edmiston. 52.5 million Euros is the current asking price from 69 million USD.
